Why shouldn't we see Glenn Greenwald's "Let Russia Have Ukraine" argument as literally repeating Kremlin talking points?

First of all, where did the Kremlin say "Let us have Ukraine?"  They reluctantly invaded in 2022 after years of frustration over broken promises from a West that was baiting them into war for the purpose of destabilizing Russia a'la Afghanistan.

You're probably not going to like this, but "Russia reluctantly invaded" sounds like a Kremlin talking point. Russia invaded in 2014, was occupying Crimea and had been providing troops and weapons to fight in eastern Ukraine since that time. Those are facts.

Didja see this about the beautiful 1898 GE Thomson Surrey?

It’s just kept just a couple hours north from here, in wonderful running condition. Apparently on 3 were made and this is the last remaining. Photo depicts GE  founder Elihu Thomson driving with Thomas Edison and Hermann Lemp.

Who gets to decide what is BS?

So you don't think threatening harm to the families of judicial workers is an unusual and unkind means of getting one's way?  Try to think about this for a while before responding or defending people I'm not even mentioning specifically.

Mr Terp, please note that our e-Safety Commissioner dropped the case. Technically, not a win just a cessation of negotiations/hostilities. Also, the role is about much, much more than ‘censorship’: we take privacy very seriously, stalking, cyber security etc.

As a result of the X ‘revelations’ an innocent young man was labelled a killer by a media outlet, and that spread nationally & internationally within an hour. Do you know the work he has to do to clear his name? Let alone get a job when his studies end in December??

Further, some people learnt family members were injured or killed before formal notification. That’s not how we do things here; we limit gossip, tale-spreading, sticky raking and idle speculation. We use media blackouts for good reason, and to good effect.

How many people have been prosecuted and convicted for whatever Trump was convicted for?

"The Manhattan DA’s office has filed charges for falsification of business records 9,794 times since 2015. When announcing the charges, Bragg emphasized the importance of the integrity of business records in Manhattan, the 'home to the country’s most significant business market.' He explained: 'We cannot allow New York businesses to manipulate their records to cover up criminal conduct.' At the time of Trump’ s indictment, Bragg, had already filed 120 cases alleging violations of 175-10, all of them in the first degree based on the concealment or commission of another crime."

One thing that gets lost when calling Trump's crime a "hush money" case is the larger picture. He was covering up a conspiracy not only to spike negative stories about himself, but to use a national publication to libel his GOP primary rivals. I certainly have no positive feelings for the likes of Ted Cruz. But if a conspiracy to libel opponents isn't corrupting an election what is?

The less than 20% figure did not mean all polls and it actually came from NATO, not Diessen (who was not lying--but being less precise in a consolidated verbal presentation).

Diesen spoke very precisely in the video, from notes in his hand: “We see every single poll, be it Ukrainian, Western, Russia, from 1991 to 2014 — every single poll.”

He didn’t have to be that explicit, but he chose to be. Just as he chose the words “take back” to refer to Russia’s seizure of Crimea. Just as I chose not to watch this guy any further.

Just as you chose to ask for only one example, which you have received.

When your version of speaking "truth to power" means defending the armed invasion and occupation of another country, it may be time to revisit your definitions.

The U.S. has not sent military forces across Ukraine's border to kill Ukrainians. Russia has.

The U.S. has not sent military forces across Ukraine's border to seize Ukrainian land. Russia has.

The U.S. has not sent bombs and missiles to destroy Ukrainian cities and towns. Russia has.

All your words, Nan, don't take away from this fact. Russia is using its power to kill, smash, and maim Ukraine and Ukrainians. And you spend your time on this thread explaining why you believe this is justified.
