Tutorial on reading forecast models at the end of this thread.

The latest advisory ups the total accumulation to 3-5 inches with snow ending around noon.

I'm really p*ssed.  Brought home new (replacement) snowblower last night.  I was SURE  that would mean no snow!! ;-)

Here in West Orange the plows have been through twice and a truck came through spreAding salt or sand   Seen a few cars driving, neighbor got out ok.

Stil p*ssed.  Not enough snow, looking out, to REALLY use the new snowblower toy   <img src=">

Be safe

peteglider, plenty of snow to use your new toy grin, just came in and it's on the heavy side, but a good snowblower should take care of it.

I wish this was a weekend. Shoveling is on me today, during nap time, or it doesn't happen. Starting some preliminary stretching now.

Same. I've got to get the kids to school and myself to work...ugh. I think we're all going to be late today!!

Stay safe! I bailed on taking J to school--people seem to be having a tough time on our hill, and by the time I have to get her again at 11:45 I think the streets will only be worse...LOL

Max - I'm hearing murmurs about a bigger storm next week.  Any intel on that??

Offshore at this time on the models, but with a known bias now in play, needs closer watching.  There are actually 3 systems coming up the coast between now and the middle of next week, but the one on Monday night is the most interesting.

Uh oh, there's that word again--"interesting"!  Thanks, Max, for keeping us up-to-date with local weather information!

Just got in from doing my second pass with the shovel.  Snow is getting heavier to lift and sidewalks in my pedestrian-filled section of town have been trampled into an immovable icy slush coating.  Looks like I shoveled but this will be it until the storm ends and the sun melts the surface so it will be clear-able again.

today is National Weather Person's Appreciation Day (I kid you not)...its also World Nutella Day...not sure if they are related at all...but many of us appreciate both Max and Nutella.

Well, I certainly appreciate Nutella!

of course i have no gas for my snowblower

Snow ending over the next hour.  With temps at or just below freezing right now, some icy conditions may exist, but temps will rise once the snow stops, hitting the mid 30s and allowing time to clear before freezing overnight.  Conditions may be icy Saturday morning.

My appreciation for Nutella is lacking, but I certainly appreciate you, Max! big surprise

My 45 minute commute became 2 hours.  Roads are bad and people are not cleaning their cars off and driving too fast for the icy conditions.  Lots of fender benders and cars sliding off the roads.  Cherry Lane closed,  trees heavy with snow and branches breaking off.

here ya go @max_weisenfeld, I got you something for Weather Person's Appreciation Day.

Ice wine?

Snowvignon blanc?

Pinot frigio?

Frozsecco?

White Brrrrrr -gundy?

Where is the MOL 'Like' button when we needed it?

just finished clearing everything....not too bad, except the slush at the street from the plows was like cement. The ground seems pretty warm from the past few days so it was easy to scrape off everything. I want to make sure it's as clear as possible if we're going to get more snow next week!

If we did a first pass before 9am, what are the odds we'll need to do another? It seemed like it had slowed way down, I'm wondering if will be necessary after work

Sun is out.  The melting has begun.

Yay! Melt, baby, melt!

I just saw that Summit Public Schools are closed today. I'm really surprised.

I'm listening to the Symphony of thumps as clumps of snow fall on our roof from our beech trees.

I did a little clearing just now, but it may have been unnecessary.  The sun is really strong and there is a LOT of melting going on.

Yup, was an easy shovel.  I cleared it hoping it will dry, avoiding ice overnight.  We'll see...

More to come on Monday pm and Tuesday?

I plan to ride my bike home this evening. It's about 14 miles.

Likely.  Still trying to figure that one out.

So how is the melting going? Like... if I left to walk to the train at 6:30, am I going to have to shovel out my parking spot when I get home tonight? Just asking...

No shoveling required.
