The NEW Biden VP discussion thread

Another hijacked thread - ugh

I will keep our inevitable doom to myself.  By all means, please continue.  Those deck chairs aren't going to arrange themselves.

To be fair, it was Basil who took us away from the topic of Biden's VP pick.

Because neither of us happen to agree with you?

No, because you do not seem to understand that the majority of people that participated in the Democratic primaries want Biden to be the nominee. I am not saying that Biden was my preferred candidate, but he won the ******* primary election. Which piece of this don't you understand?

Sorry for getting sucked in.  My support goes to Warren.  I think her value in bringing the progressives outweighs Klobuchar's appeal to the independents or Harris support by the AA community.

Biden picks Beto O'Rourke. Trump dumps Pence and picks Bernie Sanders.

Justin Amash becomes first Libertarian POTUS.

That scenario would guaranty a Trump-Sanders Administration, short lived considering their ages resulting surprisingly enough in an even older POTUS who will truly make America Great Again,

Madame President Nancy Pelosi

I think Abrams is on with Chris Hayes tonight.

She has been very successful at getting media coverage. I'm wondering why Klobuchar, Harris and Warren are not guests anywhere. Are these decisions made by the networks or is it availability and lobbying by the guest?

They spent all last year talking to these people, maybe they just want some time off.

But now many of us, mostly females, are excited to find out which woman will be picked as a running mate. So, it would be great to see some of them.

Its been two major disappointments. Hillary's loss and then the fact that all of these female candidates weren't picked as the nominee.

Just looking for one of my favorites to make second place.

Lawrence O'Donnell will have Biden with Stacey Abrams tomorrow night.  That should be interesting.

I saw bits of it. She is totally auditioning for the job. I think she is great though.

An interesting possibility.

I'm a fan of Val Demings. Same reason that I like Kamala Harris. Strong, smart and quick. I've watched Demmings deliver questions and it has the same prosecutorial air as Harris.

And she rides a Harley.

Based on Biden's horrendous performance and non-apology yesterday, it looks like it will have to be Harris or Abrams now.

It's May 23.  The actual pick is probably weeks away.

I saw him the other night on Colbert. His performance was fine.

His speech patterns are certainly not as polished as those of Pete Buttigieg, for example, but where did that get Mayor Pete.

 What horrendous performance?

His closing remark at an interview was:  "If you have a problem figuring out if you're for me or Trump then you ain't black"

This was with a black man host of 'The Breakfast Club' who Biden had just meant.  The overwhelming subject of the interview was that Biden needs to show his commitment to black voters, not take them for granted.

Do you think this was fine?

That was horrendous? Did you see the whole interview? It was just a dumb joke that landed very flat. Not his fault that the cable tv idiots are still talking about it.

Not a joke he should make.  Totally tone deaf, sorry to say.

Agreed. However, he immediately came out with a statement and apologized and said he was wrong. Unlike the Orange clown occupying the WH, who NEVERS apologized for his racist statements and actions against people of color.

Biden just needs to stay on script and talk about his plan on his website for the African American community, when he appears on shows like Charlamagne’s.

Well ok, but I see it differently.  It might have been ok if he had already been friends with the host.  Or the host did not spend the whole interview stressing Biden's need to earn the black vote.

We all know what he meant.  None of us are comparing him to Trump.  We also all know that he is prone to gaffes.  But he's the nominee now.  This was an unforced error that he now has to defend.

an unforced error is not as bad as horrendous. This just happens to be one that the media can easily glom on to without having to think too hard, so it hangs around far longer than it should. But yeah, how he let those words come out of his mouth is worrisome.

But, it's a blip, like most of his other gaffes. Frankly I was a lot more upset when he said he wouldn't fire any  IG's if he won. That was plain stupid, but the media didn't care, so it blew over.

Anyway, it's a miracle to me that he didn't gaffe his way out of the whole campaign. I had given him about 6 months before he had to withdraw because of stupid sh!t he said, like in his other campaigns. Meh, what do I know?

I saw the whole interview. What do you think cable TV idiots and other people should be talking about after watching it?
