The Bee & Thistle may be closed for a couple days.

Wishing your father a speedy recovery and your family serenity as he goes through this, Deffie Darlin'

While I know you might think it a good thing to put some Zero in the IV to help kickstart things-- please resist the temptation. While you clearly share a bloodline, I'm convinced there was a genetic mutation somewhere in between.

Here's hoping for a solid, speedy recovery for a truly nice guy.

Don't forget all the "Three FEET OF SNOW!" posts! Lets just wait until Dad is well enough to handle snow again though. hope all is well.

HA! Luv ya man, that was funny. Things are progressing with Dad, I'll leave it at that.

Hmmm, are you insinuating my comments on wanting more snow during the winter is the cause of Dad being in the hospital? Well, that's different.

Just kidding, GOTCHA! Dad doesn't move his own snow any longer, thank God. I will repeat, Dad's condition is progressing, not in a bad way, he is in recovery now. I do hope many of you will stop by the Bee & Thistle in the morning, while he sits out front reading his book, and just say "Hi". You'd all be surprised how much it means to him. His smile is contagious, and true, just like mine (evil chuckle).

rolleyes Cute photo -- so glad to hear he is doing well.

So far, so good. If you like that pic, try this one out (circa 1967)!

Oh, how cute is that?! wink

Glad to hear that things are so far so good. Send my love to your folks. Wishing a speedy recovery and continued patience for your mom in her important role too. xoxo

Best wishes for the best of health and a quick recovery.

(Peter's Bakery was the best!!

I truly thank all of you for your best wishes. Surgery went well, Dad is in some serious recovery, but, just like his son, is built like a machine. He should be back home during the week, and it will take some time, open heart surgery has a nasty habit of slowing you down for a little while. Here's a great shot of yours truly, with Mom & Dad, and a Legend of the hot sauce industry, Cajohn. This pic is from the 2014 NYC Hot Sauce Expo, across the street from the main entrance to Penn Station, at the Penn Pavilion. Mom & Dad never got a chance to ever see myself & The Awesome Wife Unit Maggie, in action at a major trade show, as they are usually thousands of miles away, they came to "help out" for a day, and did GREAT!

Sending lots of PVs!

Haven't been on in a few days-prayers flying! xoxoxo, beege

Glad he is in recovery mode. Wishing you all well.

Wait till you see the cute little pillow they will give your Dad to help out with the chest pains when caughing Usually the Doctors draw sketches on them. His to take home as a souvenir. My Doctor/Daughter wanted mine but I left it behind.

He's got it. It's to keep pressure on the chest during coughing attacks. He had it a few years back as well for the bypass surgery. I guess you could call him a 'collector' at this point. lol. I love that hospital.

Sending lots of PVs from sunny California. I'm also hanging out at a hospital while my husband recovers from emergency surgery.

Hope you have great nurses. They are the heart, soul, and brains of the hospital.

Perhaps you can reward them with DefCon sauce!

They might end up in the burn unit!

Deffie, glad to hear your Dad is on the mend. It's a long haul, cardiac recovery, but if he's patient it will be complete and long-lasting.

EBennett, I hope your husband is doing well.

Well, got great news a few minutes ago, Dad's comin' home, and is en route as we speak. Awesome stuff! Thanks for the good wishes y'all!

I just saw your mother a few minutes ago and can confirm that your Dad has been discharged from the hospital and should be home by now.

That's great news! I assume he will be doing out-patient rehab somewhere in the area? And I hope your Mom has plenty of help lined up from family and friends to make things easier for them. My Mom had a really tough time when my Dad came home after his bypass. It can be overwhelming for the patient's spouse, but I'm sure you know all this already. I'll shut up now. Sending best wishes and PVs...

Dad hit the sheets the moment he got home, which is the best thing that could've happened. He only slept about 2 hours last night, hoping to come home today...Kinda nice when your wishes come true.

Glad to hear it. Here's to a speedy recovery and we see him cracking jokes and telling great stories back in the store in no time.

He's already looking forward to opening his favorite book out front of the Bee & Thistle. Be sure to stop by and say hi. This may be a week or two, but hey, good things come to those who wait.

Huzzah! Very happy for your Dad and your Mom. As usual I agree with PeggyC - your Mom must be exhausted and should be spoiled.

EBennett, how is JBennett? (He's your husband, isn't he?)

Wait... EBennett's husband isn't Mr. Darcy????? wink

No relation- I didn't know there was a JBennett posting when I selected EBennett as my screen name.

Thank you for asking. My husband is recovering slowly but surely.

As Peggy knows, my screen name is my favorite Jane Austen character.

Which is why I sometimes call EBennett "Miss Eliza," or more informally, "Lizzie." smile
