What has Jimmy Dore been up to?

Ukraine is a U.S. "neo-colony", not an "independent nation" being attacked, and it's all the fault of the U.S. and Ukraine.

He makes a good point.  The US gave arms to Ukraine to fight a proxy war with Russia. Even Obama would not do that because he knew where this would lead.  But Trump and Biden (similar policies) were happy to get involved. The neocons they listen to want to push NATO expansion even when Putin made it clear that was his line in the sand. Now Putin invaded and they want you to think this is just some lone wolf nutjob so they can later get you supporting WWIII.   This time the propaganda is going to kill us all, as the MOL crowd mostly falls in line.

so when a bully draws a line in the sand, everyone else must cower in fear?

and I can't think of a stronger case for expanding NATO than to prevent what Putin is doing right now.

why do you give this autocrat such a benefit of the doubt?

Who else is with Putin - since you don't think it's a "lone wolf" job.  List the countries in support of his actions.  Also, please list the current neo nazis in Ukraine that need to go also.

(And thanks for blaming MOL - it was only a matter of time)

When the bully has nuclear weapons you proceed with caution. When the bully makes it CLEAR that he does not want western influence in his backyard and he has nuclear weapons you back off and give him space.  As Obama said, Ukraine is of no importance to the US but it's of great importance to Russia.  That's why he refused to send weapons to Ukraine.  He knew what kind of trouble that would start (although he seemed fine with the coup). Why could we not just leave it alone?  We have tremendous need here in the US and the money could be much better spent on social programs.  Our never ending imperialistic drive (we are the ones who want to conquer the world, not Putin) is driving us into the ground.

Putin's actions are a direct result from the 2014 US backed coup (which lead to fighting in the Donbas) and the expansion of NATO and the US selling weapons to Ukraine and funding Nazi groups.  The idea that he is doing this just because he's crazy and wants world domination is preposterous.  It's laughable that anyone could fall for such an obvious stupid lie.  I'm not justifying this invasion, but as anti-war voices are being censored and neocon views are the only acceptable understanding,  WWIII becomes more likely and that = nuclear war.

The nazis in Ukraine (Azov Battalion) are so famous, the right wing white nationalist in the US go there to train with them and then come back here for local terrorism. They are in the Ukrainian army.

ah ok, so we should probably block all reporting of what's happening and let Putin have at it.  It's clear now. Good luck Ukraine!

Ukraine is "important" to Russia for what exactly? Are we supposed to allow Putin free reign to do what he wants with Ukraine because Ukraine is important to him?

Russia already has many thousands of nukes and other missiles pointed at them. Do you really believe that adding a few more to Ukraine all of a sudden raises the risk to Russia?

Putin is clearly trying to reconstitute the USSR. Do you think that is a legitimate goal, that we should just allow?

(also stop this nonsense that spending money on Ukraine somehow prevents us from spending at home.  We're not spending money at home because we can't find the votes to do so, not because we're lacking money that is spent on other things. Such a naive view.)

They're not making good points. They're pushing pro-Putin propaganda that Ukraine isn't even a real country whose sovereignty should be respected.  Once you "buy in" to that fantasy, then all of the other arguments in your post may seem "logical" to you, but are incredibly wrong.

They are in the Ukrainian national guard, to be specific.

These neo-Nazis, on the other hand, don't accept western white nationalists into their training camps, because they think our white nationalists are weak and soft, unlike those from Slav and Rus bloodlines. It's reported they flew back from Syria late year and entered Ukraine from Belarus. They're PMC's from Task Force Rusich, which was originally formed by former Russian soldiers (and wannabe soldiers) to "protect Russians" in Donbas in 2014. Since then they've been training like-minded folks in St. Petersburg and bidding themselves out to Russian oil companies in Syria.

These images are taken from their own instagram page before it was finally taken down sometime in the last 2 weeks.

But maybe I should save this for the Whatabout thread.

They have a history of accepting western white nationalists:

No I read it and I was disagreeing with a part of your comments.  Also, I confused some terms because they are in the Ukraine National Guard and military.  The big part you left out is how they have been funded by the US:

Nan,

This is not about Nazis.  This is about Putin wanting Ukraine in Russia's sphere of influence.

It isn't even about NATO any more since the festering conflicts in the Donbas mean Ukraine cannot join NATO.

There are neo-Nazis everywhere including plenty in Russia and too many in the U.S.  But no where are they calling the shots.

Maybe nan would want Putin to come here if he's successful in denazifying things over there.  She appears to be justifying it.

Max Blumenthal says the following on the "Jimmy Dore" video posted earlier: "It's so absurd when people say Putin is attacking an independent and sovereign Ukraine. It is a US neo-colony, that is all it is."

He denigrates the people of Ukraine because their existence, their own independent history and political goals, don't serve his purposes. Why the hell should we care what he has to say?

How can you say that since Putin has made it clear since the 1990s that NATO expansion is his line in the sand?  It's the same as the Cuban Missile crisis.  He keeps saying that over and over and the US media just says "Putin Crazy Evil looking for world domination."  It's clearly projection on their part.

He's right.  The US/NATO used Ukraine to fight a proxy war with Russia.  In 2014 they backed a Ukrainian coup and handpicked the new leader.  They made sure Ukraine got the crappy austerity deal with the EU. The economy was in the dumps which always seems to help the far-right with recruitment.  Now they have been giving them weapons which they knew would piss Putin off and NATO is setting up MIssiles all around.  Obama know better than to send them weapons, but Trump/Biden could not help themselves.  Sending troops there will be WWIII so Ukraine is basically screwed unless WWIII and we are all screwed.

I am pretty sure that every one of those sentences ie wrong.

Still don't understand why Russia attacked Ukraine.

Then you need to watch this Jimmy Dore video where many experts including Henry Kissinger have been saying for years how this was going to happen because of US/NATO:

There was no reason for them to do this.  They were not being attacked.

Has Putin committed war crimes Nan?   Was he justified in invading?

Simple questions.  Yes or no?

and surprisingly some experts blame Putin for the bombing.

Of course this is a war crime.  I wish the United States would also learn not to commit war crimes.  I am very anti-war.  He should not have invaded, but I understand why he felt he had to and the West's role in that.  It all could have been avoided.  We almost had Nuclear war during the Cuban Missile crisis, but I think we have a better chance now.

In the 1990’s Putin worked for the Mayor of St. Petersburg.
