I think it was censored after a strawberry blond named Richard lodged multiple complaints with the moderators about posters shortening his name…

How anyone can think of the Chaneys as heroes is beyond me.  They should refuse the endorsement as they do when a KKK leader endorses them.

Another  comment on this.

The OP called them heroes.

that’s the old timer. You are making reference to the democrats in general. Of course now you will switch back to someone else.

Dick Cheney endorsing Harris is a sign of how much worse Republicans have gotten since the early 2000s. Bush and Cheney wrote the playbook Putin is following today, with the War on Terror (see Putin re Chechnya) and the invasion of Iraq (see Putin re Ukraine). It was, one would have expected and hoped, a nadir for American politics and policy. Then we got Trump, who's managed to plunge past that to a new bottom, with promises of taking us deeper should he win a second term.

By the end of the Bush/Cheney era, most Americans had concluded the invasion of Iraq was a moral and geo-strategic mistake of epic proportions -- under Trump, and increasing number of Republicans are supportive of Putin's Cheney-esque foreign policy. By the end of the Bush/Cheney era, most Americans were wearying of the cruelty and excesses of the War on Terror and the generalized racisim and xenophobia that bubbled in the background to sustain it -- under Trump, Republicans are thrilling to cruel anti-immigrant rhetoric and cheering policies like kidnapping children in the name of a "strong" border.

The notableness of Cheney endorsing Harris isn't that Cheney is now suddenly a good guy -- quite the opposite. The point is that today's Republican party is too extreme for Dick Cheney.

I have no idea what you mean by the comment about my switching back.

The democrats were happy to get this endorsement.   Kamala Harris said she was honored and called Chaney a "well-respected leader."

as usual, you completely misunderstand what is happening in American politics, and especially anything involving Trump.

What has happened is, as reprehensible as the Cheney policies are, they still recognize that Trump is a step too far for American democracy. He is a sui generis threat.

And they certainly are not "endorsing" Harris. Her policies probably make them vomit. But we're still far better off with Harris over Trump.

Most people can see this.

Is it hypocritical for Cheney, who led the US to violently overthrowing the Iraqi government, to now be upset over a man who tried to violently overthrow the US government? Absolutely. Do I wish Cheney were consistent and supported the same kinds of actions against the US he has supported abroad? Absolutely not.

(and I suppose, for good measure, we could note the sad irony of people who claim that the US overthrew the Ukrainian government supporting a man who did a whole lot more than handing out cookies on Jan 6).

Bernie Sanders on Meet the Press: "Cheney and I agree on nothing. No issues. But what we do believe in is that the United States should retain its democratic foundations ... I applaud the Cheneys for their courage in defending democracy."

I don't think nan cares what Bernie says and does anymore.

If Jill Stein joins Kennedy and the MAGA crowd who are openly supporting Putin, Nan will start parroting their talking points about Kamala…Stein’s the spoiler who can help trump win…. Don’t forget, we’re in the twilight zone…

Jill Stein has nothing but contempt for what she calls the "uniparty."  Interesting how you equate making suggestions about ending a war as "openly supporting Putin."

Jill Stein is a grifter interested only in her own self-aggrandizement.

That you don't see that is par for the course.

You have to be very "low information" to fall for Jill Stein's claim that the two major parties are on the "same script".

I don't know the answer to "since when", but a recent comment comes up on the search -

"I have a soft spot for Bernie but I’m disappointed in the way he rolled over for the Democrats after they screwed him twice. RFK, jr. had a better response."

further background for smedley - nan is a firm believer in the "fact" that the DNC rigged the 2016 primaries for Hillary and stole the nomination from Bernie. She has evidence and everything.

That counts for one of the two screwings. Not sure what the second one is.

Same thing in 2020 - it was a conspiracy to screw Bernie and nominate a senile rapist who was going to lose to Trump.

The DNC did not vote Biden into the lead in number of delegates. There's no factual basis for attributing that to the DNC.

They had candidates, including one who was ahead of Biden drop out and kept Warren in to split the progressive vote. This was the strategy used to "Stop Sanders" which the New York Times reported on early in the race. They actively worked against the candidate who was in the lead. There are also many, many reports of voting shenanigans, but you don't even need to go there. There was also the cooperation of the mainstream media who did nothing but smear Sanders and elevate Biden.

The message was loud and clear that anyone who wants to push a Progressive agenda that supports people over the corporate donors is not welcome in the Democratic party and will be driven out.

Hence, the DemExit. Good luck with your strategy of writing off Progressives and embracing the moderate Republicans. It did not work in 2016, but maybe this time will be the charm.

You gotta admit… Nan is very entertaining…
