An anti-semite cannot be of "The Left", by definition. The true Socialist believes the only divisions among people are class divisions and race, religion, nationalism are simple tools that the Ruling Class uses to divide the Proletariat.
A Socialist can be anti religion and therefore anti Judaism or can be anti-colonialist and therefore against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory, but if he or she has a bias against Jews as a race or as a people or against any race or ethnicity, then he or she is not a Socialist.

Yes, people like me were wrong about assuming that white nationalists were behind this. And you were wrong for assuming it was some college pro-BDS kids. Who the hell knows what this guy's motivations were, or if he was even mentally aware, but either way, we were all wrong. And we need to all own that.
The bigger danger beyond this is more profound: hate crimes are up, this is a fact. Mosques are still being burned, Jewish cemeteries are still being vandalized, people who look like "foreigners" are still targets of violence. If we allow this to distract any of us from the fight against hate, if we allow this to DEFINE our fight, either within in our discussions, or in how we relate to the crimes themselves... we will lose the fight.
We must stay focused. We must not pretend this changes the larger narrative. And we must continue to build bridges instead of walls.
For those who are pro-Trump, know that there is nothing to celebrate. For those who are anti-Trump, know that there is nothing to mourn. And for both: know that the work of fighting hate lies in all our hands, and blaming is a distraction from that fight."

I do not know what an "elitist liberal" is. I suggest that many people, not you but others, use that term to mean "Jew".
I will concede that an anti-Semite is an anti-Semite. How can I not? But to consider oneself to be a "liberal" or a socialist and, at the same time, be an anti-Semite is total hypocrisy.
