Shows that are runaway hits that you never "got"

I don't take any offense at those who don't like the things I like here. My wife and I really enjoy Seinfeld, and in many life situations, we can think of a Seinfeld episode that applies. Maybe it's because the neuroses he depicts are common in our families, and maybe they're not as common in other families.

any CSI
Not just any. CSI Miami. That show needed to be scorched off the air. Ugh it was horrible. Horacio with his sunglasses.

This. Horrible. Awful. David Caruso ("Horatio Cane") is and was the worst actor of all of TV history. That was the show I loved to hate.

Well, there was one post where someone referred to Friends as being for stupid people.  If you don't like it, fine.  Say that, for all I care.  But don't call the people who do like it stupid.

Game of Thrones, bother he show and book series.  I love fantasy but the excessive violence was too much .

I've always though that the great thing about GOT is that it shows war for what it is.  In real wars, a lot of people die and the little people suffer immensely.  We do our selves a disservice in allowing our fiction to suggest things are otherwise.

I’m not sure why you’d pick a show about war if you don’t want to see violence. Weird. GOT is a fantastic show.

Friends always tops my list followed by the god awful How I Met Your Mother. Big Bang Theory too. They're all the same. It's telling that they all rely on laugh-tracks which are very helpful for finding the parts that are supposed to be funny.

Scandal is laughably bad and may in some way feed into the nihilism of the voting public, because as sleazy as politicians can be this show makes our government look like a complete sham.

Finally VEEP. I watched the whole first season. Meh.

This is an interesting thread that asks a question about what makes something popular for so many people but others just don't enjoy it at all?
It's also fascinating to see the disdain some people express for fans of extremely popular media that they themselves don't enjoy. Why insult so many people just because you don't like a show that millions do/did?

Because either that wallpaper goes, or I do.

I HATE shows with over the top laugh tracks - like That 70s Show.

I don’t think Big Bang Theory has a laugh track - pretty sure it’s shot in front of a live audience...

Being shot in front of a live audience doesn't mean there's no laugh track added in later.

And they definitely have a laugh track.
