Posted By: jaymonI'm not even talking about tall ones, I'm talking about bushes that come off of the property and onto the sidewalk.

It's a "Board of Education", not a "School Board."
(I'm recycling the thread about pet peeves and not creating another new one. Trying to be sustainable. )
Piles of leaves in the street that will now sit there for three weeks before the first leaf collection day rolls around.
My colleague who on Monday insisted on replacing the bright coloured plastic chairs with our usual dark chairs with arms, as we sat in the darker large Hall. He insisted the plastic chairs were less safe (flimsier, no arms). However, our chairs are the same colour as the carpet, in a dark Hall (lights didn't help), with elderly clients who don't see well - and a guest speaker, whose topic was Living with Low Vision.
Oh, so many choices - but I'll start with my students who can't be bothered to write their own name on their assignments.
Students who ignore the numerous signs on the door, and PA announcements and daily news broadcast announcing the library is closed after school due to a program and then are surprised when I tell them sorry , the library is closed. And no, you cannot come in. I even gave (and it was announced) 15 minutes after dismissal for students to print stuff before the program started. A few students took advantage of that time.
My sil who says she takes the bus to "the port of authority" and has friends whose kids go to "u of penn".
Drivers who park on a hill but don't turn their wheels into the curb.
People who think irregardless is a word.
Signs proclaiming Girls' Night Out-- but omit the apostrophe.
Phone calls from "Unknown Number," "Unavailable," and "Private Number."
Customer service representatives on the phone who mumble so you are constantly asking them to repeat themselves.
In the same vein, people who leave callback numbers who talk so fast you have to listen to the message multiple times to get the whole number.

Actually, she was probably a Brit.
I had a coworker with whom I shared an office who used to join conference calls on speaker. She refused to stop or mute the line, and god help you if you tried to have a conversation with someone or take a call or make any noise. One time she joined a call, placed it on speaker, and went out for lunch. When she came back she asked me if her name had been mentioned by anyone on the call, and was legitimately mad when I said I was purposely not listening.

Or an Aussie.
I hate when people call me "boss." Store workers saying "thank you, boss" or "no problem, boss." I'm not your damn boss!
People who call you "sweetie", "honey", "baby".
Phrases like "not for nothin' ".
Imagine you're at Six Flags, or at Disneyland, and there's a brand new fantastic ride just opened. There's an entrance, which allows two people at a time to get on the ride, and a reasonably orderly line forms from the entrance straight outward, let's say North to South so everyone's in line waiting to get in like this
=========|< Entrance
Then a bunch of people walk up from the East and West and place themselves at sides of the entrance and start going in. They don't have special passes, they're not disabled, there's no reason for them not to line up behind everyone else other than they walked up from a different direction. Would we say something? Would someone yell out "Hey! You're cutting in line!" Perhaps even a scuffle might start. But no, the people at the front of the line just let those walking in from the sides make their way in as if that's totally cool.
That's what trying to get up the stairs off the platform at Penn Station in the morning feels to me every day, and why I can be 10th in line at the bottom of the stairs and still it takes me 5+ minutes to get to them.
Last night at Penn Station, as the mongol hordes were attempting to reach the platform when the 6:08 was called, the woman in front of me walked VERRRRY slowly downstairs as she stared at her phone, texting, leaving a crowd of impatient commuters blocked behind her. (This was at the NJT end of the station, where the stairs are basically one person wide, so she was able to completely obstruct all those behind her.) I said 'excuse me' but it didn't seem to register -- she was completely oblivious to everyone except herself. Of course we have all seen multiple examples of this behavior, but this was a particularly stunning instance of rampant self-involvement.
