Nugget's Forever Thread...

Better than what happened to this poor bunny:

http://www.nj.com/news/local/index.ssf/2009/04/party_trashes_clinton_township.html

To wit:

Vacationing owners of a home in Clinton Township called police Monday night from Mexico, asking that cops break up a party their son was throwing at the family's Dartmouth Road house, police said.

The homeowners heard about the party from a neighbor, according to police. They called the cops around 9:30 p.m. When police arrived, garbage was strewn all over the house, and the family car, pool table, pool cues and bathroom were damaged, according to the report from Lt. Ryan Melsky.

In addition, police said the officers found that the family pet, a rabbit, dead. Although someone had frozen the rabbit, it was now thawing on a living room end table. Officers also found bread in the fish tank.

ooooh and look at the little bunny-sized Slanket!

Not even a slanket will help the frozen bunny Calli....

omg. this just made me throw up.

somebody need a good whopping...Bajou style

bajou
thank you so much for doing all of that. you know; when i think about it; i'm not so sure the cage had ever been completely emptied of everything and washed out. i am so sorry you had to go through all that.

bunny sounds like she has made improvements already! i am so happy about this! if we can get the cage in my car somehow i can drive you and the bunny to def's. bunny has to be at the def family house for saturday. she's the guest of honor!

i'm glad you aren't in the hospital. i hope you will venture to def's party. i'm more then happy to give you a ride.

greentree-
that IS so cute!

Dear JTA:

Don't worry it's clean now and if I have anything it's time on my hands to do stuff like that... I tell you it took lime and rust remover to get the urine stone out of it tough LOL. I am not sure if I am in shape to get in a car for a drive in daylight (geez I sound like a vampire) I had to do it today for the doctor but I'd hate to have you stuck with me with a problem.

I'll have to play that very much by (bunny) ear but more likely not. As long as the guest of honor is there..that is what counts LOL.

Also I think it would be better if a guy could take Scratchers ... the cage is BIG.

trust me; you wouldn't be a problem...

Posted By: bajoun shape to get in a car for a drive in daylight

i'll throw a bag over your head until we got there. then the sun won't bother you. once we get there we'll find you some shade to sit in.

yeah that cage is BIG!!! there were originally two rabbits in it.

btw my sister asked why you guys didn't take the stand/ cart for the cage. i told most likely because nobody realized it went with the cage. we need someone with a van to move that thing.

You guys are great! If someone would be so kind as to pick up Scratchers and bring her to the party, that would be beyond awesome, as we have to straighten up the house for everyone, and go shopping in the morning. Could anyone give JTA a hand with the cage, I'm buyin' the beer, lol!

Bajou, you are a Pillar of Righteousness, and we would be honored if you could make it tomorrow. Yeah, just a little pressure.

Oh, before I forget. Many of you have been so kind as to offer donations for the little girl. We would be glad to take them, and the donations will all go to good use. As I already stated, those who donate will have their name etched into an individual brass plaque, and firmy attached to the hutch. I will send each donator a picture of their plaque, along with Scratchers of course after the hutch is built. If you want to join in on this endeavor here's the address:

Defcon Sauces
c/o The Bunny Fund
P.O. BOX 720
Millburn, NJ 07041

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as we want to give this little critter the best time of her little life.

Oh yeah, and be sure to give me an address you want the pictures mailed to, or email address you want them sent to.

This is the best "feel-good" thread I've seen on MOL in a very long time... I am SO bummed out that I'm not available this weekend to help deliver Scratchers to Bunny Xanadu and be at the party!!! I even have a car that could probably fit her and the cage, dang it. Grumble, grumble, grumble... :fierce:

Bajuo and JTA, you guys should take this act on the road. You are hilarious with the exchanges about the Vampire Bunny Convoy.

Here's another thought, however: Will the cage fold down flat for transportation? You could put Scratchers in a smaller kennel or cardboard box (with air holes) for the trip, and fold the cage down if it will actually do that. Might help you get it in the back seat of a car, maybe?

Has the bunny been transported yet? I might have a solution.

Not yet, we're still working on the logistics. We have our hands full preparing for the party tomorrow, so if you or anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

I've sent a note to bajou offering transport assistance if she needs it.

It's becoming quite apparent that Bajou doesn't have much of a choice BUT to attend the homecoming.

"24 hours and counting...."

OH, wow. Are they selling pre-washed bags of bunnies at the supermarket now?

Ok, The Wife Unit has spoken to JTA, it seems everything is a go! To make it fun, and to keep the business local, I'm setting up a registry with Bill at The Maplewood Pet Shop as well. If you would like to donate a little bunny gift, instead of mailing them, they can be dropped off at The Bee & Thistle on Baker Street. Of course don't forget to leave a card with the gift with the name and either email address or physical address, so we can send you the pictures and so I can make your brass plaque for the hutch.

Man, this is becoming more fun by the minute!

I think we have decided on a name as well. Beelzebunny was denied by The Wife Unit (I kinda figured it would be), and it looks like her new name is going to be Nugget.

omg the bunny in the bag looked so much like scratchers i had to take a second and third look! i was talking to mrs defcon this afternoon. they're going to be talking to bill at maplewood pet store about the bunny. i suggested to have bill create a WISH LIST for them because so many of us want to pitch in by getting something. this way they won't get lots of duplicates.

if you're one of the people offering to buy something; please support local businesses and go through bill.

see everyone tomorrow!

Hello all you Bunnylovers:

Well you might have to fight me for the little girl Deffy. She is really coming out of her shell and is not even half as shy as she was. For some reason my maltipoo Lily has taken it upon herself to sit in front of the cage. At first I thought she is doing this because she wants to ..well..eat the little gal but she has quickly let all the other dogs know that nobody is allowed to go near her new friend. No cat and no other dog is allowed to go anywhere near HER new friend. It seems that Nugget knows who her friend is and she comes all the way close to that side of the cage and sits right next to Lilly. It's really cute. Her new favorite food are the fresh brand new dandelion leaves..boy the moment you put them in she munches them right up. Note to Deffy and family: make sure you alwasy wash them in hot water and dry them thoroughly though. Plus don't give her too much of it.

She has enjoyed celery, carrots, broccolli, her timothy hay and the rabbit food.

JTA I appreciate the offer but, please don't take this the wrong way, if I have a seizure in the car I will need to have somebody with me who could physically help me and you don't even weigh as much as I do LOL. We can load the bunny in your car but if I go I have to drive with somebody who is a bit stronger then you.

Mergele I am not sure if we know each other IRL but if you offer to drive that would be wonderful. Maybe if one of the other partygoers would agree to run be back home so Mergele doesn't have to do it twice. So sorry to be so difficult but at the moment outings are not something regular for me. However I would love to go at least for a little while.

What time are we talking about by the way???

bajou
i tried to call you a little while ago. didn't see your post from 8pm. do you think the cage will fit in my focus? my sister tells me it does fold. if we fold it and put nugget in a box, do you think she'll stay in the box? my brother in law is leaving the stand in the yard for the def family. there is no way it will fit in my car.

i saw greentree and someone else posted offers to help transport her; but i think they whispered you. do you think it would be better if the cage fits in whatever they are driving to take her that way? this will prevent her from having to put her in a box. if she's in her cage with her new house it might be less traumatic for her.

i should be up until 11pm. either post or call me to let me know what you think.

JTA--- It will be much safer for Nugget to be transported in a cat carrier, separate from the crate. If the driver has to stop short or brake hard, that little bunny could really get injured if she is rattling around in that big cage.

See you tomorrow,
Calli

Well I don't have a cat carrier right now..had to throw mine out after raccoon baby contaminated it with distemper.

Scratchers travelled fine in the big cage as he sits in his house but if somebody has a cat carrier that would be the best. Cardboard box is not the thing as this is a bunny and they can chew through even tough cardboard in less then 5 minutes.

My number is 973-508-8221 so please feel free to call me if anybody wants to help with transporting. If we have to leave her in the cage it's fine too. the folding of the cage is not the issue it is just very long.

If somebody whisper me what time and the address then I could see if my son or my ex could run me over there.

Please send me info so I can arrange for it.

Defcon:

Just to make sure since you mentioned that you are going to build an outdoor hutch, in the interim the bunny will have to be indoors as the cage she is in will be too cold and is not sturdy enough for outdoor housing. I just wanted to make sure you and wife unit are ok with that.

See you tomorrow!!! With bunny in tow...

My plan for the cage didn't work out, but I have a cat carrier and can certainly do that. I can come over and get Baj & bunny & will bring the carrier.

Or, if you want the carrier earlier so you are not dependent on my flaky schedule, I can bring it by in the morning. Just let me know.

I'm driving the Eos, so I don't think the cage will fit. But, what are the folded dimensions?

Situation solved.

My son will drive me over in my station wagon which we know the cage fits
into as we transported her to my house that way. As long as somebody
can give a ride back as he has to go to work from there.

He is a huge fan of you sauces Deffy so he thinks it's really cool that he
gets to meet THE DEFCON!

See you tomorrow.

Bunny is having a late night snack of broccoli and apples....

Can we borrow the cat carrier? That would be great!!! I just don't have a way of getting in Greene...Is there a chance you could drop it off?

Everything else will happily fit into my car.

Oh, TS is also really excited about Hot Sauce Guy. And bunnies. She loves both (the sauce, not the guy) and not the sauce on the bunny. Separate passions.
