Nugget's Forever Thread...

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for the help and to def for giving the bunny a home. i'd have tears in my eyes whenever i'd try to find her a home and i really panicked when i heard what my nephew wanted to do. he now tries to say he was only joking. nice joke. not!

my mom also says thanks you! she felt as bad as i did about situation with the poor bunny.

i do want everyone to know that critterlover offered in a whisper to take the bunny until we could find a real home and to possibly keep her if we couldn't.

if anyone is wondering why i haven't posted until now; as bajou posted i wasn't home all day. i left my house at 6:45 this morning and didn't get home until after 6pm. after bajou and i spoke i went downstairs to wait for her. i didn't get back upstairs until a few minutes ago.

i am so grateful scratchers will be with a family who will give her the attention she deserves. she's going to love being in a window to see outside! if we had the room and we were able to keep her on the first floor, maybe things would have been different. but as bajou can confirm, the cage is pretty big.

def you do not need to buy a hutch for outside. we have one that goes with the bunny. it's your if you want it. just need someone with a pickup truck or van to transport it.

it's funny the picture of the grey rabbit bajou posted does look like the bunny!

the poor cat is going crazy trying to figure out where the bunny went! this is a cat who very rarely meows. she's been up and down from the basement a half dozen times meowing for us to follow her downstairs, then meows where the cage use to be! i think she's taking a break because she is now sleeping on the rocking chair.

i am pretty sure the hutch in our yard is coon proof. how do i tell? it's yours if you want def. if it's not i am more then happy to help pay for one. i can't thank you enough for rescuing the fluffy tailed one. so, what will her name be? are you really going to have a party saturday to welcome her to your family? kewl.

I'm so happy the bunny has a new home! she will know love!
Best wishes with thaT pretty bunny-girl, Deffy!

Didn't have time to read all the posts, but have a cage if you need it...any bunny lovers... we love 'em, email me/us here

Thanks guys, The Wife Unit and myself are totally psyched! As for the hutch, as previously stated I think we're gonna start out with a clean slate, and get her a new hutch, in an effort to erase her bad memories. She is defintely a cutey, thanks for posting the pics Bajou. And yes, we're gonna throw a little celebratory in her honor on Saturday. Hey, 75 degrees and sunny, I think it's a good omen.

We're already talking about getting her a little buddy as well. I think her days stuck in the basement must be squashed, and I think a playmate would be very medicinal. Not right away, but soon. We were looking at many hutches before we left for the hockey game last night (GO DEVILS!), and I saw a great little split-level that I think she would love. Man, this little bunny's not gonna know what hit her, kind of like a little Bunny Heaven. The whole family is pitching in, so the little one will never she short on attention.

I may be somewhat of a annoying sh*t on these boards every once in a while, but when it comes to little critters, I'm a teddy bear, and the story JTA wrote just struck the chord very loudly. So, that being said, Bajou or JTA, give me a ring, and we'll work out the transportation logistics. I'm also glad she is with you Bajou, I was actually thinking about the little girl last night before I went to sleep, sitting silent all alone in the dark basement, glad to know she wasn't.

Haven't come up with a name yet, but Beelzebunny has a nice ring to it, hey, she's a NJ Devils fan now.

Oh yeah, as people have offered, any donations would be gladly accepted, and we'll even make a little brass plaque with your name on it, and attach it to the hutch, kind of a cool way to say thank you. Just whisper me.

Yay DEFCON!!!:cheer: The little gray bunny is going to the DEFCON bunny heaven. Yay!!! Not bunny heaven in the sad way but the happy way.:cheer:

And, by the way, Scratchers is a beautiful little girl.

Now, if they only made micro-sized paintball guns. I could teach her the proper means of self-defense.

I'll bet the squirrels have something that would be just the right size for her. Of course, you'll have to wrestle it away from them first...

:shocked::shocked::shocked:

PEGGYC! She's a little girl!

OK, now I'm just not speaking to you. Jeez.

:rolling:

"The -buzz- around town is Defcon's getting a new arrival. Gotta stop by and check it out!"

Get it? BUZZZzzzzzz?

Oh, god. You're not going to start dressing up that poor little wabbit and taking silly photos of her, are you????

PeggyC, as long as he doesn't dress the little bunny in DEFCON clothing such as he wears at the trade shows.

Just wait... he'll have photos of her holding a tiny AK-47 on the labels of all his sauces...

Nope, wouldn't think of it, that's not nice to do to ANY animal, even me. Nah, she will have free run, with lots of attention, that's about it. Perhaps a quick picture every once in a while when a photo-op comes available.

A Steampunk Bunny! LOL! It would be fun, but I don't think she'd enjoy it. However, I am seriously debating putting her on the label of our newest product, The Smokey Dust, she is smokey colored after all.

I actually think that would be perfect. In fact, you should probably re-name her Smokey Dust.

Let's hope she's photogenic.

Just think, a new home, and soon to become known nationwide. WAIT, her little mug will appear in shops in Germany, Canada and England too! talk about a rags to riches story!

Posted By: PeggyCLet's hope she's photogenic.

Of course she's photogenic, did you see the pics of her above?

See that, indoctrination through cuteness. And people doubt the long-term plans of the Bunny Continuum...

I hear there's a new Evil Bunnie in town. I think this town's not big enough for the both of us . . .

I'm gonna hafta check Scratchers out for myself!

Sure it is, she's only stands 8 inches high. :rolling:

JTA and I have had our differences, but she never fails when it comes to our little creature friends.

Good job, JTA.

Defcon - you & the Mrs. are Da Man!

There are a few bunny rescues- one in SoJersey - attached is the article

Sad- if you go into their small website- it says that small animals are overlooked and most of the time just killed since there are no facilities for them.
Bravo to JTA and Deffie!

won't that teach my nephew a lesson! i am SO glad i not longer have to worry or feel bad for the bunny in the basement. my mom is as well. she won't say anything to my sister because she wants to keep the peace.

bunny had her ears up as if to say "wow! more people coming to see me) when bajou and her son came to get her last night. knowing bajou (if she's not in the hospital) she is already playing with the bunny and taming her. i am so glad the bunny is going to get the attention she deserves. i did try as best as i could. so did my mom. my brother in law would feed her as well as my sister; but that was about it.

as i've said over the past two years or so, i would talk to her and pet her, but it was difficult for me to pick her up. she had a buddy the first year we had her. but as many will remember, when she was a year old shadow had to be sent to bunny heaven. that's about the time the other nephew lost interest in scratchers.

def
you can count on me to kick in towards the cost of a hutch and whatever else you need. i am sure bunny will be very happy with your family. i can't wait to see the outfits you put on her! i'd check with the pet store about adding a second bunny though. i think my sister asked about this when shadow died and the pet store and vet advised against it.

also, if we had a bigger house, or my sister and her family had their own house and there was room for the cage anywhere but our basement, maybe things wouldn't have been different and my nephew would have interacted more with the bunny. he did pay attention to her in the beginning; but he got her in the spring and she was out in the hutch in the yard most of the time.

once she landed in the basement the excitement started to wear off. i think the most attention the bunny got was from the cat! she use to like sitting by the cage and watch her. would stick her paw in to play. bunny would ignore her. luckily the cat doesn't have front claws.

i can't wait until saturday to she how the bunny is adjusting! i bet she will be hopping all over the place with her ears up and her eyes bright!

omg this picture actually looks like the bunny! i had to look twice to make sure!

Thanks JTA, like I said, ANYONE who wants to throw a couple bucks towards the endeavor will be immortalized with an individual brass plaque with their name on it, which will be firmly attached to the hutch. Honestly, myself and The Wife Unit, can't wait! Give us a ring so we can set up the transportation logistics.

We are having a BALL looking through websites that have bunny stuff!

Well hello all:

Update from the bunny front:

Just so you know JTA I have an apple sitting out on my porch and I am going to let it rott and when it's nice and moldy I am going to carry it down to your nephew and ask him how he would feel like eating it.

Sorry JTA if I am overstepping my boundries now but I cannot believe they left you to deal with this when it is hard enough for you to go down those pretty steep stairs into the basement. There would have been no way for you to clean that cage because Scratchers needs to get used to being handled a bit more and I spend a good 3 hours today scrubbing to get he hardened urine stone out of the bottom part because I was getting allergic. I also wanted to Scratchers to have a squeeky clean cage and hand him over to Deffy and family that way.

I decided to sterilize everything I threw everything out that couldn't be washed with hot water and bleach. I couldn't wash her tube that she liked to go in so I bought her a little "house" inside the cage. She did the funniest thing...the moment I put her into the newly set up cage she took all the hay, the fresh carrots and celery sticks and carried them into the house. Now she sits in there with her head sticking out and is happily munching away. The cage is in my bedroom and the TV is constantly on because she was not used to having alot of voices around her. She startled real easy but today she happily nibbled away as I folded clothes and three dogs sat there staring at her like christmas came early! I am handling her alot but it will take some time before she will be a true cuddle bunny.

Deffy as I said before my slight problem is I cannot drive so I cannot drop the bunny off. Don't know if you would consider getting him or if we need to find a ride.

I love this:
