I miss the community that evolved from on line to the world off screen. Just about everyone posting then was local. A support system evolved with posters helping each other in tough times and working together to make our off screen community stronger. Where else could two posters be encouraged to meet and end up being married to each other? Where else would you find a married couple who lived in the same house posting good night to each other on MOL? As regular posters moved out of the Maplewood/South Orange area, they could still be a part of the community , keeping up with friends and local developments by signing on to MOL. I miss the old on-line neighborhood.
The people, the arguments and other stuff. The first person that came to my mind was Just The Aunt and her fights for disability rights.
The F.t.F. event, Chef Jesse - man those ribs were good.
I LOVED the F2F event(s) ... we had more than one, no? Putting faces to the names (and reputations) was so much fun ... more fun and pleasantness, perhaps? But we're still here!
The 9/11 threads. Check ins to make sure everyone was okay. Harrowing first hand account of 1 poster’s escape from WTC after the planes hit. Supporting those who lost loved ones in the attack and those fearful of what could come next.
I truly miss Tom Reingold, and a few of the other blokes whose names I can’t quite remember now. Fun humour, knowledgable about lots, nice taste in music.

I like to check out MOL evert once in a while to see what's happening in the M/SO area that I moved from around 60 or so year ago.
When I see something of interest I share it with CHS 64 classmates I'm in contact with.
Many years ago thought this site I found out someone I grew up with still lived in the same house on the block we lived. Knowing he still lived in the house he grew up in made it easy to contact him and when I went to a CHS reunion I also went to visit him in the old neighborhood.
That wouldn't have happened if I had nit found this site and had joan_ chystal let me know about him .
Nor would I have stayed at Art's Bed and Breakfast with my wife , finding out about Les Saisons on MOL .
I lurk for knowledge now, but when the dancing cop retired and had a thread here I talked about that with my old CHS classmates and brough back good memorious of the M/SO area we left years ago
