Melania demonstrates many of our sentiments...

Comments about Melania Trump are completely counterproductive. I don't really care if she is complicit in Trump's middle-school behavior or not. When people make comments about Melania, it distracts us from the real problem which is the Trump Administration and, more specifically, Donald Trump.

not all of them imho. I think the story I linked to is relevant. If she's going to participate in her husband's war on the media, pointing it our is relevant.

As I rethink this thread, I really do not care about his wife. It is another distraction. Our POTUS is a POS, That is the only issue.

No.

Ignore his spouse.

Every time there is an attack on President Trump's wife, someone who is "iffy" about Trump is encouraged to rush to her, and his, defense.

I don't care if you think attacking her is cathartic, because it's counterproductive.

Let's not be stupid about this.

how is it an "attack" to point out that she threatened to sue a reporter?

Indeed. Her threats don't make the news unless we look for them. She's no wallflower.

Her views on immigration alone are brutal. Until proof is given of her being coerced into believing his mantra, one must believe these are her views as well.

Will her role as FLOTUS be in the same vein as Michelle and Laura (obesity, education, military) or in the vein of Eleanor Roosevelt working on behalf of civil rights (or in Melania's case, working against civil rights)? She has a viewpoint and what that is will be interesting to know.

Supposedly her primary cause will be cyberbullying.

Brilliant. Typical of the Trumps to engage in that sort of projection

I'm with you right up until the last sentence. Who cares how she looks or he looks, or how fat Christie is, or how Michelle Obama looks. We have to get past that.

Really? But it's okay to poke fun at his hair, his hand size and his weight? And what was said about her that was demeaning? Said that w/out make up she's probably average. More of us are average than not; nothing wrong with average. They call them super models because only a few in our population have that height, weight and a canvas face to alter.

No, it's stupid to judge people, any people, by how they look. Trump is a disaster, but not because of his hair. She is fair game because of her statements, but talking about her appearance is pointless. Christie has done great harm to NJ, but not because he is fat. We on the left are supposed to be past that.

I agree. If you can't argue without attacking, you've lost the argument already. As much as I hate Christie, and Trump, I don't need to attack their appearances to say why.

personally, I think Trump's weird skin tone and ridiculous combover are fair game. They were the earliest signs we had of his pernicious narcissism and thin-skinned nature. What kind of man goes through what he does just so people won't see his bald head?

I agree. She was very vocal about Obamas birth certificate and obviously has very little knowledge about why this would be offensive.

Please. She's a grown woman who supported her husband's BS from day one. She's no fragile flower and she doesn't deserve a pass.

Hey, you sell your soul to DJT in order to live the high (58th floor) life in NYC and you settle for your situation. Somehow, I think she'll be fine. Can't imagine she thought she'd be more than an ornament.

Beautiful tame women from Eastern Block countries seem to be a preference for DJT. No backtalk.

After all the accusations from other women, she's still there.

As is Monica Lewisky's. She posted something yesterday about Baron Trump and cyberbullying. Wonder if Melanie and Monica will get together on this? (And this will have Bill and Hill attacks written all over it as well)

Here's another "major problem" to concern us.

President Donald Trump thinks that unfavorable media coverage of his first weekend in office has not allowed him to "enjoy" the White House, according to a Tuesday report by the Associated Press.

Trump believed that the media would cover him more favorably after he was inaugurated, according to an Associated Press report citing two anonymous sources close to the President, but instead believes it has worsened.

Well, she won't have to travel far to get to work.

There was NO ATTACK! I said w/out her make up, she's probably damned average. Where is the attack in that? Is that worse than some white women actually voting for her husband because they thought Melania more beautiful, keeping in the line of what their FLOTUS should look like?

Her husband rates women on scale (1-10 and weight) but it's against private protocol to comment that she's probably average w/out her full face on? AND...

Many who commented on Michelle Obama's appearance did so in a highly racist and disrespectful fashion, comparing her to animals and such. Far different from a comment regarding someone looking markedly different w/out make up. Far different.

Melania Trump’s makeup artist, Nicole Bryl, confirmed that the incoming first lady will be adding a “glam room” to the White House. Yes, just like all the Kardashians have!

"Melania wants a room with the most perfect lighting scenario, which will make our jobs as a creative team that much more efficient, since great lighting can make or break any look,” she told Stylish.

Melania: glam room :: Michelle: vegetable garden

I can't help but think her involvement with something like cyber bullying would be detrimental to the cyber bullying cause. Maybe it is just another distraction? Either way I would be disappointed because it seems disingenuous. Her supporters keep stating she can speak, four, six, and five languages fluently...so why not use that as her platform? Her fluency could finally be proven and she could educate the "nothing but American English in my country" folks that speaking different languages is not a barrier to progress.

Many things have made me grimace lately, but the cyber bullying as her cause is a real tea spitter at this point.

There is no comparison

Yes, seriously. What difference do the means make? If a guy doesn't want to look bald, he doesn't want to look bald. Comb-over, toupee, plugs, particle spray, baseball cap, whatever: Best wishes to him.

C'mon, it's the ridiculousness of the 'do that makes one smirk. Like James Trafficant.

Yeah, there's so much other damning material. Their appearances are the least of our concerns.

that's a fair point.

But to me, anyone who is spending that much time on a ridiculous combover every day of his life is putting an awful lot of emphasis on vanity. Every couple of weeks I spend 5 minutes getting what's left of my hair close-cropped and I don't need to spend another minute on it until the next haircut. And as a bonus no one is laughing at a bad combover behind my back.

I have read this thread and am reminded of two plays.

The first, written about 400 years ago about political events that occurred about 2000 years ago has a politician commenting on the weight of other politicians and expressing a preference for fat men.

The more recent play, a very successful Broadway Musical, was about the wife of a Populist President.

For reference: Here's the photo of Donald leaving Melania behind as he bounds up the stairs.

And the smile crumble to a frown after he speaks to her at the inauguration

I wonder if it had been Ivanka in the car instead of Melania ... would he have left her behind?

Agree! Why on earth would she choose this topic knowing full well her husband's propensity for firing off his entire 140 character load on anyone and anything that pisses him off? If she doesn't recognize that the problem begins at home, then she is not fit to properly serve that position. It's really ludicrous.
