IMPEACHMENT | The Sequel?

Yawn.

Sorry you're that bored.  it's just about Constitutional governance.  No explosions.

"... it's just about Constitutional governance."

No it's not. It is all politics, the blame game, and about getting more power....period!

If President Trump is removed from office, Mike Pence is President.

That's an aspect of that whole "constitutional governance" thing that Mr. AJC isn't interested in.

Wrong! I'm very interested in Constitutional governance. And, also the number of new judges that will interpret the US Constitution.

Trump's television lawyer and spokesmodel, Rudy Giuliani, has provided his expert legal analysis.

The Supreme Court Should Step In To Rule This Impeachment Unconstitutional

While the Constitution does give the House broad discretion in impeachments, there are limits. The most explicit of these is that impeachment can only be for, “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” (Art. II, Sec. 4, U.S. Constitution) However, the articles for impeachment voted on by this entirely partisan Democratic Congress, which are currently being unconstitutionally withheld from the Senate, charge no such offenses. In fact, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress are not crimes of any kind, high or low.

Other, genuine attorneys and constitutional scholars know that the phrase "high crimes" has a specific meaning with respect to impeachment, and does not refer to the altitude of actions proscribed in your average criminal code.

The intelligence level of Rudy's argument can be summed up with the following picture:

It's just more sh!t being thrown against the wall for the rubes.

In these times, what's a little more sh!t on the wall one way or the other?

Rudy has lost it. Just imagine what would happen if the House of Representatives now or in the future voted to impeach a President and the Supreme Court told them they couldn't.

They would almost certainly then move to impeach the Justices.

Both Rudy and Trump appear to be in advanced stages of dementia. They both repeat what they hear from Hannity, Limbaugh and Mark Levin.

Cannot argue with the only possible conclusion from this:

In an earlier post, I argued that Trump's actions here were serious because they directly undermine the vote -- the central feature of our system of government -- and because this attack is still ongoing. Now we have reporting the Russian military hackers have been targeting Burisma, likely in search of materials that can be used to damage Biden:

Russians Hacked Ukrainian Gas Company at Center of Impeachment

If Trump were to take his office seriously, he would loudly and unequivocally denounce these Russian hacks and declare that he would refuse to accept or use any information the Russians uncovered. He hasn't, and he won't, which is why he needs to be impeached. Whatever one's personal feelings toward Russia, a president has a duty to defend our elections, particularly against foreign interference, not to collude with a foreign power in illegally undermining the vote.

The House Intelligence committee is sending over a batch of new, corroborating material that was provided by Rudy's friend, Lev Parnas:

A preliminary review of Mr. Parnas’ production, a voluminous record of data extracted primarily from one of his personal cell phones, further corroborates the findings and evidence related to the President’s scheme, which was laid out in the Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Inquiry Report, released by the Committee on December 3.

As an example of the relevancy to the impeachment inquiry of the evidence that you are receiving today, attached here are some documents pertinent to the President’s Ukraine effort that we identified in our initial review of Mr. Parnas’ production. Because some messages retrieved from Mr. Parnas’ device were written in Russian, the Committee is also providing a rough translation of a number of those messages, which is also included here.

MSNBC is reporting that Shifty Schiff, the pencil-neck geek, will prosecute the impeachment.

Get ready for a Trump twitter melt-down.

Article on the new Lev Parnas documents, which are more like a "smoking howitzer" than a mere "smoking gun".

The stunning new texts, documents, and impeachment evidence released by the House, explained

I thought Chris Hayes was going to lose it last night when presenting the note, blown large on the screen with the "honey do" list, neatly scrawled on the Ritz Carlton notepad.

Well I got 4. Very surprised that Hoyer and Raskin were not picked. Also that only 7 were picked

Also that Swalwell and Lieu were overlooked.

Apparently, this is a real ale.

And of course Schiff was ecstatic and so was Yovanovitch that Trump had disparaged her because it made Trump look like a fool and a bully and Yovanovitch the victim. it's a joke to suggests that this 30=year foreign service officer who had just been introduced as a profile in courage was intimidated by the tweet.

How about being stalked by Rudy and Lev's thugs?  How does that enter into the calculation now?

These are either the House managers for the impeachment trial in the Senate, or the toughest season of "Survivor" ever.

Either way, Donald is getting voted off the island.

I'd like to see this as a real ice cream.

A counter proposal. The Democrats drop the impeachment thing if each Democrat Senator is allowed to line up and kick El Orangino in the nards as hard as they can.

Just a thought.

Didn't know exactly where to post this, but Lev Parnas is supposed to be on Maddow's show tonight at 9pm.

Appropriately placed. I commend you.

Just saw a clip on Chris Hayes. WOW Of course I always feel that way and then nothing happens.

But, back to my original reaction, just WOW.

Parnas is either the smoothest fu**er on the planet, or he's telling the truth.

He better be in front of a house committee ASAP.

He is very believable. We need a couple more of them to come forward.

Well he implicated pretty much everyone on my list of the guys you love to hate. If he can work in Doug Collins, Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell, I'll be in heaven.
