Groundhog Day - any other movies that you watch over and over?

DB, your summary of the Coen Borothers is like Ridley Scott for me. Out of 25 films I only think 9 of them of are brilliant, and he's one of my favorite directors. Some are competent (Black Rain, Someone To Watch Over Me, G.I. Jane), and the others are barely watchable (A Good Year). I've been told Kingdom of Heaven makes sense if you get the extended Director's Cut, but why do I have to do the work?

And for what it's worth, here's my 9

  • The Duellists
  • Alien
  • Blade Runner
  • Thelma & Louise
  • 1492: Conquest of Paradise
  • Gladiator
  • Black Hawk Down
  • American Gangster
  • The Martian

BTW, The Martian lays on the brilliant/competent border for me. I really liked it, but I felt it lacked some flare. The casting and performances tip it over the edge.

I'll second Ridski's addition of BLADE RUNNER... I have the 5-Disc set which includes, the Theatrical Release, The International Release, the Director's Cut, Ridley's Final Director's Cut, the Work Print (which was what the used to Screen Audiences), a Documentary on "The Making of", and a disc of Featurettes.. plus I've read Paul Sammon's book "Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner a couple of times...

Suffice to say, I've seen this movie (in all it's forms) a lot...
