free Carlos!

Carlos is now in the care of ICE

Carlos has been out for several days.

It's kind of normal to see Trump tweets, or GOP statements in general (see Lindsey Graham on seating a SCOTUS judge in an election year) age poorly in 2-4 years.

But this is Carlos's post from Nov 3 that started this thread. Talk about a post that is not aging well. Wow.

I want to hear about Carlos's MAGA tears.

My favorite Carlos comment from all the years was that time he remarked how quickly Florida was called. A state that had counted its mailed ballots in advance. Ah, memories.

Let's talk about the Georgia run-offs. I am getting info about a webinar on Wednesday for those who want to help. When I get more details I will share.

Well, it looks pretty darn good for the Democrats to take control of the Senate.

I almost can (again). Your predictions are amazing actually.

This is wild. Newsmax, which has been staunchly pro-Trump (the MAGA crowd switched to Newsmax from Fox) and even defended his Saturday call with Raffensperger, has this today:

"Republicans needed a strong turnout of voters on Tuesday to overcome an expected Democratic advantage in early and mail-in ballots. That may have been hampered by Trump’s false insistence that the results in Georgia in November were so tainted that they needed to be thrown out. Loeffler and Perdue issued a rare statement in the late afternoon pleading with their supporters to go to the polls before they closed."

"Fighting for party control of the Senate made the races important enough. But against the backdrop of Trump’s baseless claims of vote fraud and corruption by Georgia elections officials -- topped by his extraordinary hour-long phone call demanding that officials “find” enough votes to overturn the presidential election -- the races also became a test of Trump’s continued hold on the GOP."

I don't know how to react.

Is this a harbinger of a broader rejection of Trump now that they've seen how toxic he is? Are they finally waking up to the reality that Trump stands for nothing but Trump?

I wonder if any of the Senators and Representatives planning to object to the Electoral College results today are going through any self doubt this morning.

It's like after Voldemort was defeated and a bunch of his supporters claimed to have been under the Imperius curse.

Ossoff has claimed the win!

Ga. Shocker: Democrats Warnock, Ossoff Win Senate Runoffs

It's really a shocker. Newsmax is also one of the first news sources to call it for Ossoff. They're basically saying Trump is full of it.

What I understand is that the remaining votes are likely to tilt significantly Democratic. Lots of absentee ballots, for example. I think Ossoff shouldn't be claiming victory just yet. And there's the question of whether he wins by more than 0.5% (automatic recount threshold).

Anyone know when the Congressional certification sh!tshow is starting?

Nah -- Voldemort was a skilled wizard pursuing a coherent, frightening ideology. This is more as if they had been following Crabbe and Goyle.

A 0.5-point margin would be about 22,000 votes. Reversals from recounts involve margins in the low hundreds. Some historical info:

That's what Guiliani said in the newest Borat movie.

Oh I have no doubt a recount would be fruitless. But a recount would delay the election being finalized and Ossoff being seated.

I do wonder if we'll see any post-election legal (or illegal) shenanigans to try and reverse or delay the election being made official. I just checked and t he counties have until January 15 to certify. Raffensberger then has until January 22 to certify the election. He has shown that he's committed to doing his job.

I kind of wonder if Trump will be doing much pushing of GA conspiracy theories. Probably a bit, but I doubt his heart will be in it -- he doesn't actually care about Senate Republicans. And so in that way it we might get a useful preview of just how well Trumpism without Trump actually works. I expect Loeffler and Purdue to refuse to concede and basically try to run the Trump playbook, but will be interesting to see how that lands absent Trump himself. Hopefully it goes poorly.

(to clarify -- I don't expect Warnock or Ossoff will actually be prevented from taking their seats. Question is more, will Perdue and Loeffler be able to have any post-election staying power, or will they fade quickly in relevance?)

 1PM EST, I believe.

Trump must be so mad that democrats are able to "find" votes they need - but republicans can't.  They're such amateurs.

So happy Abrams assumed the role she did - she deserves a lot of credit.  I think the credit could be split 3 ways - the candidates - Abrams and Trump.
