I kinda know why it says low skill and high luck for my second guess, but that guess did get me down to just the 1 final word left. (FYI: Not playing hard mode)

If your opening word has a skill level above 80 it isn’t hard mode.
I got today's game solved in under 50 seconds! That's a record for me.

I'm not so sure about that. I play hard mode and my opening word today was 93 skill (87 luck). Still took me six to get it...

I forgot to add a winking emoji. (The less LEAST-like and more JOLLY-like your opening word — a personal “mode” choice — the harder the rest of the task, typically.)
I suppose if someone wants to hamstring themselves with an inefficient opening word, it would make the game more challenging.
I dare one of you to start tomorrow with "xylyl" or "xyzzy"

I wasn't timing myself, but it was pretty fast. Got it in three today.

You suppose correctly. Choosing openers with a random thought, current theme or sudden input, like an overheard word, can also add a refreshing note of serendipity and interest.

I guess that's one of the charms of Wordle. The stakes are so low, and there's really not much in the way of bragging rights for solving it in fewer moves (that usually means being luckier), so people can have some fun playing around with starting words.
maybe I should start with "xylyl" tomorrow

I pick a different word every day. I just think about it at some point when I am not sleeping--and that is often--what word should I start with? I usually use a word with at least two vowels, like spire or organ.
I keep wanting to start with vaguely rude British words, or words like "Moist" but I always end up going with Pious.

I always want to start with grape. Not sure If I ever have... Oh wait! I share with my sister. Searched and found out that grape got me to adore (solution) in two on December 4th.
Same first word every day. Hoping to hit it big one of these days with it being the actual word.
My goal is to have more 3s than 5s. That’s been the case for months now but it’s not overwhelmingly more 3s!

I did that once. Though if I'd known I had such a long-shot coming in, I would have bought a lottery ticket rather than played Wordle.

I've done it twice but once was when it was the selected start word in the SOMA Wordles group on Facebook. I'll still take credit, because I had suggested that word to the group. On the other hand, it was thematic. (FEAST on or near Thanksgiving.) That choice of solution was roundly criticized by many Wordlers.

Next time powerball gets really big, we should chat.

Son was home during a college break once. Asked him for a word, first time ever. Bingo.
His NCAA tournament pools, though, are always the same mess mine are.

Wordle rejected XYZZY for not being in its word list. XYLYL (35 skill) got me to the solution in 5.

I didn't think Wordle would even accept Bingo as a word!
For the second time this week, i had three letters in place in the third line today, but there were so many options i never got the right word. My least favorite wordle situation.

one day they should choose XYLYL as the word. Then we'll really see people's heads exploding when they see the solution

Today I somehow guessed the last 4 letters in the right order by guess 3, but missed it twice before I finally got it right.
I got it in 1 once. On Thanksgiving, I said, "I'm going to start with 'feast'." That was the word. So much for random generation...
Today, I got it in 3 because I had three letters (in the wrong place) on word one.
I have many more 4 days than 3 days though (158 v. 117). Some 2s (20), more 5s (77) and twelve 6s. Eta: a couple of Xs too.

I think I'll try using it as my start word tomorrow - thx!

How’d you do with BINGO? (A very lucky guess got it for me at 4.)
