I have Windows 10 and can't get out of the S feature no matter how hard I try. They also put all my transferred photos on the cloud.
Hate it, Added Webroot and now I get a dozen error messages so, I actually thought of trying 11 to see if I can wiggle out of all of this when I switch.
I also got the offer to upgrade and have chosen not to do so. I like the way my computer is functioning now and see no reason to upgrade. What am I missing?
No need to rush, but you will need to upgrade before October 2025, when support (security updates) for Windows 10 will end
I upgraded to Windows 11. Don't see that much difference on the surface. I read about it and there are some back elements that are different. Also, search bar is gone to be replaced by a search icon and Cortana is gone (I never used it anyway), but all in all, I don't see any real difference.

Were you able to opt out of S easily. Still trying and living with the error message I've had since I added Webroot.

what's S?
Its some sort of protective mode that you can opt out of, which I did but somehow it has resurfaced. It offers more protection but only allows you to use Windows approved apps from their store. I noticed my Webroot subscription was up so I purchased it again and since I downloaded it I get these annoying error messages, sometimes ten of them.
You are supposed to be able to get out of it, with a warning that you can't get it back but all it tells me is "working on it."

I got out of S mode on Windows 10 soon after I bought my laptop. I don't like the overprotective feel of it and I wanted Adobe products. When I upgraded to 11, it was regular mode.

I opted out and then recently after adding Webroot it was there again.
I am tempted to try 11 and see if I get another crack at opting out.
I’m willing to help if I can. I’m no expert but I can rake a look-see.

Thanks, I've done every trick I've found online. Next try, needs to be removal of Webroot but I'm postponing for a bit and living with the annoying error messages. I'll take you up on it if I get close to tossing the laptop through the window, the glass one not Windows 11.

Just got offer to upgrade. Looked at the 'new features & benefits', saw nothing that I have any need for (I do not need Chat function, and I refuse to store my files in the cloud).
Any Pros or Cons to upgrading - or not?
