Why do Aussies have a different accent to Americans, New Zealanders, Canadians and Poms?

'Yebbut', it's a silly article that doesn't really say anything we didn't know before. *shrug*
(FWIW I worked on a couple of textbooks with Delbridge and Mitchell in the late '70s, great writers and excellent teachers, who weren't very practical in some ways. We had loads of laughs over their love for language)

It seems the Aussie accent started more than 200 years ago, and linguists reckon it's all to do with copying the accents of the people around you as you were growing up.
