Where to place printer driver?

When my laptop crashed, they transferred files to the new laptop, but failed to include driver for my label printer (Brother PT-2430PC).

When I download a driver from Brother web site, it lands in the 'Downloads' folder.

Where should I move it to?

you generally just need to double click it to install, it usually know where to put the files

It tells me that it has been installed, but I still can't open my label files?

I need to print about orchid 75 labels, which I really don't want to do by hand.

Behind the wheel of course!

It looks like there are two separate issues here.

When you say you can't open your label files, what exactly do you mean? What program are you using to open the files? What error are you getting when you try to open them?

Files created for the label printer have suffix LBX.

I can see the label printer.

I have downloaded the driver and un-zipped it.  It has been installed successfully.

But, I can't open existing label files, nor can I create new ones.

When you say you "can't open" them, what do you mean? You can't find them? Or you try to open them and get an error? If so, what's the error?

What program do you use to create these LBX files? The problem appears to be with that program, not your printer driver.

When I try to open one of my old saved label files:

First I get a pop-up:    To unzip all files in pd243w550avt64us.exe to the specified folder press the Unzip button.

If I do that, I get red circle with white X:  Could not create ...... unzip operation cancelled.

I don’t think it’s your printer driver, you need to download and install the Brother P touch software for this printer.

Installing a printer driver just makes it so that programs can print to the printer. You can probably already print from other programs, but since the printer in question is a label printer you'll likely not get much useful out of that.

A .lbx file need to be opened by a program that can work with it, and that program will then use the printer driver to print it. Taking a few guesses, I'm going to assume that you need to download and install P-Touch software from Brother. Hopefully you can get the right software from their website.

.lbx is a file extension used by Fox Pro or Microsoft Fox Pro. Did you have that application on your old computer?

PTouch ought to open it, or there's this:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/odbc/microsoft/importing-data-into-microsoft-excel-from-a-visual-foxpro-database?view=sql-server-2017

You need to re-install the label program. It's not installed, and this is the reason you can't open those files.

Fox Pro??

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. A long time.

They are probably not Fox Pro files. I'm sure the label making program decided to use that file name extension.

Try printing something else onto regular paper to verify that the printer driver is properly installed.

pd243w550avt64us.exe contains your printer drivers. It does not contain your label files. Where are your label files located?

I have an extensive directory of file folders.  My (many) label files are in a folder just one level down from 'Documents'.
