What politician isn't a huckster, con and/or a liar? In speaking with people who didn't vote one the biggest reasons was or is -  it doesn't make a difference.
it's sad to think those people are either that cynical or that ill-informed as to believe Trump is the same as everyone else who has ever run for office. I would have hoped that the overt racism alone would make people see he's not a garden variety politician.
Thank you. I wasn't quite sure how to respond to that post. My first attempts had a lot of bad words in them.
Sure, Trumps a twit tweeter.  Majority of folks are not alarmed by infantile bombast as it doesn't affect their everyday life.  As Al Gore says “The U.S. system has a lot of inherent resilience, It’s hard for one person, even the president, to change things very quickly if the majority of American people don’t want them changed.”
It's sad to think people are affected by what a buffoon says and can't distinguish between what is said and what is reality.

I can't even describe how clueless your post is. It must be nice to be so oblivious.

The buffoon is POTUS. What he says has consequences, serious consequences. It can lead to violence. It sets a tone.

Agreed, and it's how we ended up with this Republican president.

Of course you can't. It's an idea that's outside of your little blinkered bubble.

The woman casting the first stone had some boulders in her own backyard! I am sure the Weinstein worm and his team of lawyers are giddy at the prospect of this newest revelation working for them.

Your glee makes the biblical reference particularly ironic. So much for coming to Jesus.

Manafort found guilty on 8 counts, Cohen pleads guilty to 8 counts, what a day for Trump!

And Trump implicated in Cohen's counts of illegal campaign contributions as the "candidate who directed him:"

There is just too much “happening in Washington “ these days for me to comment. My self-imposed “time-outs” since June prevent me from joining the discussion often as the cast of characters in the news have grown exponentially . Who are some of these people tongue rolleye ?

My sons and daughter have decided I should not be alone and come to stay over  regularly! A great and wonderful reality, but also exhausting in a good way.

Not intended as an excuse to avoid posting, but just making you all sure I am still around. wink and popping in regularly.

Not sure who you mean because the people being mentioned have been in the news for quite some time.

Paul Manafort who was just found guilty of 8 counts regarding financial matters is a long-time political operative who managed the Trump Campaign during the time of the Republican National Convention. He has also done work for politicians in Ukraine.

Michael Cohen who just pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations and directly implicated Trump was Trump's long-time personal attorney who paid off Stormy Daniels to keep her sexual encounter with Trump secret.

Stormy Daniels is a Porn Actress who had sex with Trump and claims she was threatened to keep her from telling about it. At some point she signed an agreement to keep it secret but is now suiing Trump to get out of the agreement.

Michael Avenati is Stormy's lawyer.

You are sweet to give me a run down on some of these people, Lost! When I asked the question, it was more a expression of  rhetorical frustration on my part rather than total ignorance. The hot and cold running Stormy Daniels and her money hungry  ilk are easy to forget.

Apparently, last night Donald Trump watched a Tucker Carlson segment about South Africa that was based on old white supremacist propaganda.  Then Donald Trump "tweeted" that it would be official United States policy to look into that.

So what's going on in the White House?  Our President is making racist talking points into national policy.

hey, nohero, he can check out that info with our ex-policeman turned ex-Home Affairs Minister and maybe next Prime Minister Peter Dutton - he’s been saying for a year now we should prioritise a special visa class for these super-migrants.

I don't know what is more exhausting: the debacle of the Trump presidency, or the hypocrisy of the GOP. The man has pretty much already committed collusion (Trump tower meeting) and obstruction (Comey firing) in broad daylight. He even explains it on national television. And then all these republicans (Lindsey Graham, Brett Kavanaugh, and many others) who were all holier than thou during Clinton impeachment and now all of a sudden think that a President should not be distracted by little details like criminal investigations. It's just hard to have to listen to this every day.

Having said that, I hope this circus continues for a while, because it will slowly but surely damage the GOP. And the GOP is the source of all this evil. They created the conditions for him to win, they protect him, and unlike Trump they are probably rational people. It's almost not worth it to throw Trump in jail after his Presidency, but the GOP needs to be punished, and they will. It may not look like it today, but karma is a *****. And with a bit of luck they drag the conservative movement and the libertarians down with them.

Now I need a drink.

Her money hungry ilk?  Of course she’s to blame, not the candidate who paid her off in order to influence the election.

Yes, that his her name and I feel bad for her, because she was trying to do a good thing and now she will get five years in jail.

Given that Cohen has pleaded guilty to 8 counts, many arising from the payoff to her, and that Cohen is trying to take down Trump with him, she is going to be very hard to forget.

But I ended up in the same boat as you when I saw a thread about someone named Pecker and had no idea who they were talking about. Had to Google to be reminded. You can add to your list of characters:

It hasn't hurt them one bit over the past quarter century.  If anything the GOP is stronger than ever in spite of their behavior.  It could be argued that they are stronger precisely because the only thing they are good at is trolling the libs.

I believe her name is Stephanie Daniels.

I wasn’t making fun, and I am sympathetic.
