Trump promises great military buildup in CPAC speech

WTF are we planning to fight? We have more than enough military for self-defense, so who are we planning to fight? Iran? Iran would be 4x the effort of Iraq and we would be facing some leading edge Russian weapons. China? China just needs to present a credible threat to our aircraft carriers in a war. Russia? Pretty sure we don't want to have a military strong enough to defeat Russia and it would be a nuclear war anyway.

Just finished listening to Trump at CPAC. CNN had it live. I get angrier and angrier when I listen to this man. He is evil. Again talking about his huge win and the mention of Hillary caused the audience to chant "Lock her up".Also his emphasis on the 2nd amendment.

Budget time will be very interesting this year with all of Trump's projects. The guy has no clue - he's no longer a Putin puppet - he's a Bannon puppet.

Trump and his followers are just angry that the US has not won a war since WW II. So they believe that we need to beef up the military (and further line the pockets of the military industrial complex). They need these never ending wars to make companies like Halliburton et al have huge profits.

Macho nonsense. It's a substitute for Viagra.

Watched it. Felt like a member of the audience in this movie still. Not the smiling one in the helmet.

Possibly because we haven't been in a war where losing was not an option since WW II.

I thought we won in Iraq.

We certainly won all of the battles. Whether or not the M.E. is better today for our involvement is subject to debate.

The US doesn't really need to win wars if winning is defined as our flag flying over their capital. We won the first gulf war and lost the second because the first had a completely (and quickly) achievable objective. Iraq out of Kuwait. Done.

Iraq turned into a stable democracy? Got a hundred years?

So....

Grow military, increase nuclear arsenal, build wall, rebuild national infrastructure, increase border security, slash corporate taxes, slash income taxes for the rich, start trade wars with key partners.......

Budget clusterf*ck.

Yesterday Trump met with 26 manufacturing CEO's. Trump praised Marillyn Hewson, CEO of Lockheed Martin, for agreeing to reduce the price of the latest batch of F-35s (90 of them.) He told her that she would make up what was lost because LMT would be receiving orders for many more F-35s in the future.

Don't worry. Cutting PBS will pay for all of it.

he negotiated a volume discount. he makes the best deals.

He promised to "Make America Great Again". This is how he defines greatness.

after you've convinced voters that we're all under siege, you have to do something about it.

Straight out of the fascist playbook.

what's interesting is that apparently, according to our media, you don't need our help this time for whatever is planned. Julie Bishop (our Foreign Minister) was in talks with one of his Cabinet (I've forgotten who, sorry) who said there'll be no need to extend our commitment for troops.
