The worst movie you've ever seen...

What's the worst movie(s) you've ever seen and why?

I hated Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise.  I think Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz were also in it.  Nearly walked out of the theater it was so bad.

The only movie I ever walked out on was Purple Rain.  I like Prince and the movie somehow received decent, if not great reviews, but I thought it was laughable.   I was on a date and we both had enough not too long into it.  Of course, I've seen countless terrible movies on TV.

The Phantom Menace was tremendously disappointing when I first saw it but it just gets worse and worse as the years go by.

Still, the 6 year olds love it

Plan 9 From Outer Space...

-s.

Betsy's Wedding. Great date, terrible movie. (He hated it, too.) Then the one with Jennifer Lopez as a hotel maid who falls in love with a senator. Truly awful. Knew someone in it, went out of politeness. Two hours of my life, gone forever.

A Beautiful Mind.  There.  I said it.

Ha! Totally. Haven't thought about this one in decades'

Let It Be. As much a mess in front of the cameras as it was behind them, which even the rooftop reprieve couldn’t redeem. And compared with all the previous heights ...

Failure to Launch with Sarah Jessica Parker.

Not good. The whole time I was watching it I was thinking, "Why am I watching this?"

Last Year at Marienbad.   Two boring people wondering if they had met each other last year at Marenbad.  I thought I was going to die.

Sex in the City 2 - I think I sat through the whole thing.  I'm pretty sure I didn't watch Battlefield Earth all the way through - that was pretty bad.

She's Having a Baby

showgirls

I went to a screening with a member of the cast.  It was so bad I talked back to the screen and laughed out loud at some of the dialogue. Bad parts= the movie. Good part= Gina Gershon

Showgirls was horrible, but watchable.

yes true > Gina Gershon

Magical Mystery Tour has to get dishonorable mention here, no?

102 Dalmations (live action sequel to 101 Dalmations).  It was so bad that even our then 5-year-old asked us to leave.

I've never walked out of a theater, but I've turned off a few rentals in my time.

I never made it past the first 20 minutes of either Suicide Squad or Meet The Parents.

I've seen an awful lot of really bad movies, but to my recollection there are only two movies I didn't finish watching: Magnolia and Requiem For A Dream. I know both are considered by most people to be great films, and given my tastes, they both should have been right up my alley. But OMG, wretched.

It was pretty bad. I had a friend (RIP) who loved women, but said about half-way into the film, "Oh God, not another naked woman!" grin

not the worst movie I've ever seen by a long shot.  But I always considered Close Encounters of the Third Kind to be the most overrated movie I've ever seen.

Same here for “Before Sunrise.” I’m a big fan of the other Linklater movies I’ve seen, but for some reason found Celine and Jesse insufferable from the get-go and gave up on the rental video about 15 minutes in.

I LOVED Requiem for a Dream. Go figure.

Worst:

  • Meet The Parents
  • Anything with Sarah Jessica Parker
  • ETA: Godfather III

Corollary: LA Story.

Serendipity with John Cusack.

Since it was a movie with John Cusack, I kept waiting for something that was a bit interesting, off-kilter, something. But it was just plain boring schlock the whole way through with a stupid magic book.

They should have called "Dances with Wolves" -"Chief Bored with Tears".

If I had to listen to much more of Kevin Costner's flat nothings voiceover I was going to feed myself to the wolves.

I saw it in the theater at the time with four people from work. Thankfully one of them agreed with me. The other three gushingly loved it. Each to his own I guess.

Wouldn't say I Loved it, but it had a lot that I enjoyed.
