Tariffs announcement and impact on stock market

Asian markets are taking a hit - could have a bit of a Bolton effect also.

We can't take any more of this winning.

Trump has no clue when it comes to basic economics.

Does he have a clue about anything relevant to the job he is in?

especially trade deficits.   ohh

It's just show business for Trump.  We are mistaken in thinking that he cares about much more than the day's headlines.

If the news media would have a Trump blackout period of a week, I think he'd resign or explode.  Unfortunately they are co-dependent.

Trump is now set for war on three fronts: political vs. Mueller, economic vs. China, and actual vs. North Korea and/or Iran.

He likes it that way. The more chaos the better for him. It all distracts from the fact that at the end of the day he is just another BS artist.

You should note your source on that quote.

" is now set for war on 3 fronts: political vs Bob Mueller, economic vs China/others on trade, and actual vs. Iran and/or North Korea. This is the most perilous moment in modern American history-and it has been largely brought about by ourselves, not by events."

My guess is China is going to make some concessions.  They may or my not be significant but thy will allow Trump to say "I won" and avoid the chaos of a real trade war.

Wrong. Four fronts. He forgot Judicial. Clifford a.k.a. Daniels v. Trump a.k.a Denisen

Wow if someone knew what Trump was going to do in advance they could make a killing off these market swings.

Can one of you smart market guys explains these wild swings that have been happening for a while?

U.S. Steel at 52- week low. Tariffs making America Great Again.

Gas is due to increase by about .25 per gallon. Trump is cutting off Iran oil and this will affect prices at the pump. I believe this will start around Nov. 19th.

More winning for us to enjoy.

Despite Trump, cutting off Iranian oil is a good thing.  Instead of giving our money to a theocracy let's drive more efficient cars.  We should cut off Saudi Arabia, too.

Will we be driving more efficient cars? Or will we be enriching other oil supplier, such as domestic oil and Putin's Russia?

Guess what stock has been cut in half since tariff talks began.

US Steel.

And now Trump is going to tell Mary Barra how to run GM.

Well, he’s telling May how to run Brexit. What else do you expect?

GM is one of the few large companies with women in both the CEO and CFO roles. Of course Trump and his supporters will believe they need some mansplaining.

Does it matter? He and his base will find someone else to blame and shift attention to another problem they decide is more urgent - the "caravan" always is a good one. Some if not many of his supporters have said that "immigrants" are the issue most important to them.

Read a lovely article on the irony of the new tariffs on Apple, while Tim Cook and Ivanka are promoting an Apple ConnectEd project in Idaho (in Wilder School District?).

Seems like one hand of govt doesn’t know what the other is doing.

Trump doesn't even understand how tariffs work.  He thinks China is paying for the tariffs that Trump imposed on imported goods.  The dope doesn't realize the U.S. consumer is paying for these tariffs in the end.

he might be getting that from his idiot economic advisors.  At least one of them was on record claiming that a VAT was a tariff. None of them seem to know the most basic definitions regarding trade.
