Support A BackPack Pal Kid!

Want to make a difference? Want to make a difference right here in Maplewood/South Orange?

Please consider sponsoring (full or partial) a BackPack Pal kid ... Last year, we were able to help 100 food-insecure children each week in South Orange – Maplewood Schools. These are children who might not otherwise have enough to eat over the weekend. We are also excited to report that, through a partnership with The Fruit Guys (www.fruitguys.com), we were able to provide each child with fresh fruit each weekend!

Approximately 20% of the children in South Orange – Maplewood Schools receive free or assisted breakfast/lunch. Our program, and the support of folks like you, ensures that these children have a weekend’s worth of nutritious food.

You bet! How do we donate?

You can mail a check to Rent Party Pantry, Inc., 69 Courter Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040-2819 or you can visit our website at www.rentpartylive.com and hit the DONATE button!

question

Just curious... 100 kids are served (amazing!!) but do you know how many should be? Like, what is the goal in order to reach ALL of the kids in need? 200? 300? I'm just wondering if that would be helpful, like "x more are still in need."

Rent Party rocks - literally, I was at last week's picnic ; - )

Thanks for all you do. I just made a donation.

We've never gone much over that 100 number ... But, yes, to your point, my sense is that there might be more opportunity out there ...We rely on the social workers in the school and they do a GREAT job identifying kids who might need some help ... There are 6,800 kids in SOMA schools ... 20% of that is 1,360 potentially getting free/assisted lunches ...

It could be a cool idea for a campaign, maybe around Giving Tuesday or something like that. "Help us feed 50 more kids this year!"
