Why are Biden's poll numbers so low?

I haven't checked for a poll where people rank their concerns about Biden, but I would imagine inflation is at the top of the list.

As usual, I blame the media for confusing America.

Other than that, his numbers make no sense.

Interesting that "crime" ranks so low.

But if you add "inflation" "economy" and "gas prices" you get a very high number. But what % of those who say the "economy" is most important think the economy is doing OK?

STANV said:

I assume a very small %, if any at all, because the question asked about the most important problem.

most Americans don't know anything about the economy. They see prices go up, and they think the economy is in shambles. And they also think the president is responsible, as if he somehow is controlling the economy from the Oval Office.  Collectively we're kind of an ignorant society. And polling illustrates it time and again. I'd say Biden's approval rating is at least as much a measure of the voters as it is of him. It's a combination of GOP voters who disapprove of anyone with a "D" after their name, and low-information voters who blame the president for the price of gas and chicken wings.

Voters trust the Republican Party to better handle more key issues affecting the country than they do Democrats, according to a poll.

An ABC News/Ipsos survey conducted three months before November's midterms found that people believe the GOP would do a better job in handling seven out of 11 key issues than the Democrats.

The seven key policies that people trusted the GOP over the Democrats are: the economy [34 percent to 25 percent], crime [32 percent to 21 percent], inflation [33 percent to 23 percent], immigration [37 percent to 28 percent], the Russia-Ukraine war [26 percent to 25 percent], gas prices [33 percent to 24 percent] and taxes [31 percent to 25 percent].

In comparison, voters said they trust the Democrats to do a better job than the GOP on issues such as gun violence [34 percent to 29 percent], abortion rights [38 percent to 26 percent], the coronavirus pandemic [36 percent to 20 percent] and climate change [37 percent to 19 percent].

The economy added more than 500k jobs last month. Unemployment is at 3.5%.

Some recession. Do you know what words mean?

Also, pretty sure that Biden never denied inflation existed.

Really, you need to find better cartoonists.

You are perhaps aware that Christopher Wray is the director of the FBI and most certainly is not coddling Biden or any Democrats.  If there is any point in the FBI investigating Hunter Biden's laptop, it will be investigated.

A lot of people are not choosing either party in those questions. Probably not worth paying attention to the results. Of course that won't stop the pundits from another round of "Dems in disarray" stories.

You yourself recently said you'd prefer someone else for '24. So why are you surprised others are also not keen on Biden?

one thing that stands out for me is, his age. But just like the last election, people would rather have an old democrat instead of an old or young republican in the White House.
Polls don’t mean much nowadays, because people say one thing in public and do something totally different in the privacy of an election booth.

The difference is that if I were asked in a poll, I would say that I thought he was doing a good job.

Because he is.

I just think that he's too old to run again.

The point is that his job performance in no way justifies such a low favorability rating.

Hence this thread.

Immigration mishandling…Afghanistan abandonment ….Ukraine slowed response….Saudi Arabia (no sword dance…or oil, but some Covid. More has been accomplished during the last  couple of weeks, come to think of it, while the president was feverish.

Oh, and this past weekend, only Democrats passed the bill which will fear into the hearts of taxpayers…

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/86-852-new-irs-employees

From the link…

“The main targets will by necessity be the middle and upper-middle class because that's where the money is," the Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote recently. "The Joint Committee on Taxation, Congress's official tax scorekeeper, says that from 78% to 90% of the money raised from under-reported income would likely come from those making less than $200,000 a year. Only 4% to 9% would come from those making more than $500,000."

“In any event, there will be a lot of increased enforcement.About $45 billion of the $80 billion for the IRS will go to investigating taxpayers. That means that not every one of the IRS's 86,852 new employees will be auditors and examiners, but a lot of that manpower will in fact go to audits and increased scrutiny of taxpayers. Many of the targeted taxpayers will have to hire accountants to represent them in dealings with the IRS.”

Your incessant bleating about Afghanistan grows tedious.  Given the Trump Administration agreement negotiated with the Taliban which, among other things, pulled the rug out from under the Afghan Government, what exactly were we supposed to do?

It would be if you could lay out an alternative scenario which 1) brings our troops home and 2) doesn't see the Afghan government collapsing.

Keeping our forces in Afghanistan without end was not an option.

The Ukraine response has been about right.  I don't want to burden your brain with details, but among other problems, the Ukrainian Army needed to be trained on NATO weapons and that takes time.

@mtierney,

Here's a great quote from none other than your false idol.

June 26 (2021) — At a rally in Ohio, his first since leaving office, Trump boasts that Biden can’t stop the process he started to remove troops from Afghanistan, and acknowledges the Afghan government won’t last once U.S. troops leave.

“I started the process,” Trump says. “All the troops are coming back home. They [the Biden administration] couldn’t stop the process. 21 years is enough. Don’t we think? 21 years. They couldn’t stop the process. They wanted to, but it was very tough to stop the process when other things… It’s a shame. 21 years, by a government that wouldn’t last. The only way they last is if we’re there. What are we going to say? We’ll stay for another 21 years, then we’ll stay for another 50. The whole thing is ridiculous. … We’re bringing troops back home from Afghanistan.

If you check back a few months, you will see much angst over the slow USA response to the war on Ukraine. True, it was difficult to mobilize equipment, and get safely to the Ukrainians and not fall into Russian hands. Teaching how to use it is a whole different task. I referred to the two months or more when we watched convoy of military power heading for Ukraine. The world watched and waited — for what? The Russians made its intentions Chrystal clear from the beginning.

Now China is parading its strength, encircling a sovereign country! We watch and wait and argue whether a member of Congress can visit Or not**

**Anyone hear why Nancy’s son was secretly given space on the highly classified trip?

Rumor has it was business, something to do with electric car motors.

whatever garbage you hear on 7:70 am talk radio….you start licking your chops… and immediately come on here to antagonize people. Don’t you have some flowers to sprinkle some water on? I hear Tom’s river is dried up already.

Russia had mobilized before and nothing happened.  In this case, the Biden Administration was somewhat alone in stating that Russia was going to attack.  Even many Ukrainians did not believe it and they were less prepared than they might have been because of this.  They could have done a better job defending the Isthmus of Perekop and may not have lost Kherson.

With 20:20 hindsight, we certainly could have done a better job of helping Ukraine earlier.

At the same time, it was always a bit of a balancing act.  The more pre-emptive aid, the stronger the Russian argument (which several people on this board are parroting) that Ukraine was going to attack somewhere.

At the end of the day, it all depended on the Ukrainians showing that they were going to fight and not fold.

Presses don’t hold for days-old news. The 30 percent figure came last week from one source in a CBS documentary who referred to the amount of military aid that reached the front lines. CBS has since updated the documentary, explaining in an editor’s note that the source “says the delivery has significantly improved since filming with CBS in late April.”

This answers the question, "Why are Biden's poll numbers so low?"

Too many people listen to Fox "News" garbage, instead of learning the facts.
