I was thinking it was between Shapiro and Cooper, then I listened to the smarter friends I have and Kelly appeared on the radar…
Is she naming her pic tomorrow - and he will join her on Tuesday? I always thought the announcement and introduction was going to be Tuesday. But your title will be correct in 30 minutes if that's the case.
or maybe Buttigieg (hey, I spelled it right first time!)
I wasn't crazy about him as a prez candidate in 2020, though in retrospect I may have been unfair to him.
But I've been very impressed by him as a communicator. Easily the best out of the Biden admin. I'm generally against Dems appearing on Fox, because I think all it does is give them undeserved credibility. Except for Pete. He has mastered the art of politely kicking their a$$es and I think he effectively pushes back on their lies.
Frankly, he may be the smartest guy in national politics.
The biggest plus I see for him as VP is his youth. He was on The Daily Show recently and I can't remember a guest getting a bigger ovation from the young TDS audience.
Plus his gayness will drive MAGA nuts.
More plus, he's a musician. We definitely need more musicians in Washington.

yeah, msnbc is reporting announcement today (tonight?) and a rally in Philly tomorrow with the pick.
I don't think they're going to finalize the VP pick until after the swimsuit competition.
It’s probably Shapiro since she’s having the rally tonight in Philly. The swimsuit competition will get a lot of viewers, some will even be from fox…. That should make them forget about her laughing fits…

It’s the big city close to her campaign headquarters in Wilmington.
It's Walz.
I'm encouraged that Harris didn't listen to the profesional hand-wringers and choose someone they think is more "moderate."
The VP doesn't help to bring in many votes. But I was concerned Shapiro might actually lose some votes for her.
It’s funny. I looked at cnn.com at 8:57. Nothing about who she chose.
A couple of minutes later I was reading the Wikipedia article about Walz and someone had already updated the entry about his political career that he had been chosen.
He’s a solid choice and I think will match up well against Vance. He’s going to make a lot of white independents a lot more comfortable about voting for a woman of color. Kind of the same role Biden filled in 2008. I think there’s enough passive antisemitism in the country that Josh Shapiro might have faced challenges based on his religion. I hate bringing these things up because they don’t enter into my political viewpoint at all, but there’s a practical aspect to winning enough votes to win the White House again.
JD Vance better stay on the couch, because he's screwed in a match-up with Walz.
Meanwhile, MAGA world is still delusional and will be working on stirring up hate.

give these people credit for one thing. They just bulldoze forward. Never admit a mistake, whistle past the graveyard.
I don't think it's going to be sufficient this time. The Democratic ticket is showing they know how to deal with bullies.

This is the GOP (via their "RNC Research" arm) doing a massive self-own -

and then they get upset when they're called weird.
I had it wrong too thinking it would be Kelly.. Well welcome aboard Gov. Walz soon to be VP Walz!
Let's get those lawn signs!

I think Shapiro could have easily cost the Dems Michigan. This was not his year.
I was liking Kelly but I have to say that Walz in great. I see why Harris chose him. Definitely not another Tim Kaine (shudder)

I liked Joe Biden and was planning to vote for him. I like Kamala Harris and I’m planning to vote for her. This has been about nore than just keeping Trump out of power.
But yeah, if the candidate was Marianne Williamson I’d be voting for her.
Why do some Dems have to pander to hunters. They seem to think it helps them when they speak of gun control. Tim Ryan did it, Kamala Harris years ago defended hunting when she spoke of gun control and here we are again.
It's estimated that only 8% of Americans hunt.
I was getting enthusiastic, despite knowing Walz was a hunter, but Harris had to put it out there.
So disgusted.

It reassures moderate gun owners. While it may horrify some voters, I think it is a net plus, politically speaking.
Not to get side tracked, but hunting is a necessary activity in a world where apex predators are no longer present. If the US banned deer hunting, we would be facing an unprecedented ecological catastrophe in less than a decade. It is frightening to imagine the level of disease and starvation that would afflict deer, not to mention the other creatures that share their ecosystem.
As much as it scares me, I think it will be Shapiro. I have to trust that greater minds have done the cold calculation of who will bring Kamala the WH. And that they have a strategy for winning Michigan with Shapiro on the ticket, along with the rest of the nation who may not be ready to elect a Jew. I'd breathe easier w Kelly, but my money is on Shapiro.
