This is a good sign. I think Putin would like to find some exit from the mess in which he finds himself and I hope the West can find some way to work with Russia to improve relations.
those of us who believe that the Russia Hoax was not a hoax might also believe that this is a slap in the face to Trump, who said only his special magic could get Gershkovich released. This may be a signal that they've given up on Trump being re-elected.
maybe. kinda sorta. it would be irresponsible not to speculate. some people are saying.
Another genius move by Biden, he has denied trump the opportunity to use this swap as leverage in his campaign…keep going Brandon…

I don't pretend to know Putin's mind, but he must understand that Trump is, at best, a loose cannon.
Vance calls it a testament to Trump's strength. Honestly. That's his take.

There is reporting of VP Harris having been a part of at least 2 meetings. I'm sure that Trump or Vance will quickly respond.
"It is the largest exchange of prisoners since the Cold War, and Fox News is told that one hour before Biden announced on July 21 that he was dropping out of this year's presidential race, he was on the phone with his Slovenian counterpart urging them to make final arrangements to get the deal over the finish line."
In other words, while they were abusing him he was doing his job to secure the release of one of their own.
Wall Street Journal can't bother to thank Biden (edited to add: statement is by Wall Street Journal Publisher and Dow Jones CEO Almar Latour and Wall Street Journal Editor in Chief Emma Tucker)
you know, I remember a time - yesterday, when I was young - that even in the heat of a campaign, if something like this happened, the opposing candidate - maybe begrudgingly, maybe not - would actually say some words of gratitude to the guy who managed to negotiate it.
because the candidates were grown-ups.
(LOL sure gramps.)
Mtierney,
Did you find it shameful that Biden came out in the daylight to comment on bringing home these Americans being held hostage in Russia?
vance has apparently shat out a statement saying that the reason Russia agreed to the deal was because they were afraid that Trump would be elected, so [more words that can't possibly make any sense].

and I remember a time when Nixon went behind Johnson's back to scuttle Vietnam peace talks, and Reagan went behind Carter's back to get Iran to hold on to the U.S. hostages until after the election.

Trump does plumb new depths when it comes to a complete lack of graciousness or class in all he does.
Trump is so bloody predictable. He'll be repeating this at his rallies. What an angry, crass man.
