Interesting. Wouldn’t happen here - you can explain that your details aren’t on the roll (a couple of decades ago, I was dropped off through an update via doorknocking. I was in hospital and didn’t know); you’re then sent to the Declaration Voting desk which is another section of the polling place, and you’re given a Provisional Vote ballot which is then placed in a special signed, counter-signed and sealed envelope. It’s not included in the general ballot box; there’s a special ballot box for such votes, absentee, silent etc. extra security to be kept safe then counted at the Returning Officer’s secure office after verification. Too many ways to verify the Voter’s validity.
