Greenwald and Taibbi both used to be pretty good, but they both went south after Trump's election. Mate I'd never heard of pre-Trump.

Don’t hold your breath. As Ben Smith discussed recently in The Times, journalists like Greenwald and, I believe, Taibbi see the Substack subscription model as a home that can potentially sustain them financially.

The funny thing is thay neither of them changed at all. Something else did.

Yes, the reading public became more perceptive, of what they were really about all along.

The funny thing is - Taibbi changed quite a bit. And just by stating something doesn't make it a fact.
He went from excellent deep dives into things like the criminal justice system and his book the Deep Divide, and has recently hopped on the anti-MSM train - teaming up with the likes of Greenwald. As a fan, it's been a bit disappointing.
Greenwald hasn't changed at all, I concur on that one. His reporting has always been based on finding the one piece of reasonable doubt - it's like he's always prosecuting the news to prove his point. 1 in 100 tries, he's right.
terp, do you agree with gg's take here?
you think he hasn't changed, when in fact he's just turned into a troll.
I found Greenwald to be quite biased in his reporting. He had a major axe to grind with Hillary Clinton and the Democrats, so much so that I think it blinded his objectivity.
Once he started shilling on Fox News, I was done with him.

Without question. We have Strzok's notes. They were trying to set him up. The Logan Act?!?!
The funny thing is that the Biden administration is doing the exact same thing right now and the corporate press is applauding.
I disagree with Greenwald's conclusion though. Liberals cheered because they hate Trump. Every principle and every value liberals may have had were sacrificed in opposition of Trump. This was the first glaring example.

Greenwald broke the biggest story of this century. Our 4th Amendment rights are violated every moment of every day. For this he won a Pulitzer, but also risked his life and freedom. Your take on him is embarrassingly childish.
Taibbi still digs for truth. You probably don't like the truths he finds.

Greenwald was a Bernie supporter and remembers what the emails released in the so-called Russian hacking said. Anyone who is truly a Bernie supporter and doesnt have an axe to grind with HRC and the DNC and the corporate press is either grossly misinformed or has an IQ of less than 50.
One of the issues you see with the left leaning corporate press is that they don't let anyone who goes against their narrative on. I think he goes where he is welcome. A few weeks ago he was on Useful Idiots with Taibbi and Katie Halper.

take this:
Anyone who is truly a Bernie supporter and doesnt have an axe to grind with HRC and the DNC and the corporate press is either grossly misinformed or has an IQ of less than 50.
and put it you know where.
cripes. Anyone believing that the email leaks proved anything at all is ... well, extremely gullible and has a tendency to see what they want to see.
and christ almighty - the "corporate" press did more to advance your side of the story than anyone. It got 100 times the amount of ink it should have.
I was a Bernie supporter in 2016. Those emails proved nothing about any kind of conspiracy or effort to deny Bernie the nomination. He did that on his own by losing by lots and lots of votes.
I battled with nan for months about this. Every time I asked her to produce an incriminating email she produced squat. At best the email was a bit embarrassing. At best.
You guys are just so laughable on this issue.

LOL, thank for telling me what I like and don't like. I still follow Matt - went to his reading at Words a few years ago. He is a great reporter. Unfortunately, he's gone behind a paywall now - so I can't read a lot of it. It tends to be the stories and interviews where he teams up with Greenwald that completely loses me. It always feels like he trying to ride his coattails a little for publicity.
Promote your business here - Businesses get highlighted throughout the site and you can add a deal.
I believe this was mentioned somewhere else. I was pretty surprised that it was even possible for him to be relieved of duty there. But I have the give props to those in charge.
Here's the piece Greenwald wanted to run:

Here's The Intercept's note on it:

Here's a decent break down of the debacle:

I wonder how long it will take until a new website pops up with Greenwald, Mate and Taibbi at the helm.
I don't even know how to label their brand of journalism, and I used to be a Taibbi fan.
