Stimulus Check tracking

Looks like you can track it here:

https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof-wmsp/login

Just curious if many others are getting the same thing I am:

----------------

Payment Status Not Available

According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time.

----------------

The FAQ for this:

https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment-frequently-asked-questions#paymentnot

Looks like this might be the explanation:

The application doesn't yet have your data; we’re working on adding more data to allow more people to use it.

Received by direct deposit on 4/15.

Background is we have filed tax returns with direct deposit info the past few years, and still have that same credit union account.  Of course non-filers, the "unbanked," very low income people who actually need the $ will be among those waiting waiting waiting.

Add onto that direct deposit is only for those who received a tax refund in those 2 years. If you owed taxes, they do not have your account info even if you submitted it previously. So you still have to go into the system and add all that info to get your direct deposit. It's annoying, but worth it.

I clicked on the link in Jamie's post and got a warning that it was for authorized users only.

OK. I clicked everything and it seems to indicate that to get deposit you would have to have filed 2019 return, but those are not due until July 15th.

Also, I have not received refunds in many years. I always owe something.

We have not filed for 2019 yet (except for maybe some quarterly payments), but already got the $$ as described above.

I believe that persons who receive social security payments through direct deposit also have their direct deposit information on file.

I thought the prerequisite was if you have filed in 2019 OR 2018.

Come to think of it, it's possible our payment came via Social Security info, not info from tax returns.

I have not yet filed for 2019. I did file in 2018 and got a refund. I received my stimulus payment about a week ago.

Correct, and no need to do anything.  Expect transfer at the end of this month according to Mnuchin

Really? Besides social security I also pay my federal taxes using EFTPS. So, soc security and treasury both have my bank info.

But when I check, I get:

I just don't understand why they wouldn't have my data.  Maybe those who have filed 2019 are prioritized?  I tried Simone's info also.

I got so the same message Jamie.  My son who doesn't live with us got the same message and he already received his 2019 refund.  I filed in 2018 which is all that is supposed to be required.

There is an income requirement to be eligible for the stimulus check.  It is possible that some of us earned too much in 2018 or 2019 (depending on tax return used) to receive a stimulus check and are therefore receiving the above quoted message.

Same message as Jamie "According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time." and nothing seems to explain why as I definitely qualify and have direct deposit from my tax return

Single people who filed EZ 1040 got their checks first.

Married filing jointly: owed last year, had refund direct-deposited this year after filing in early March. Stimulus money was direct-deposited on April 15.

keep trying the site-it only updates once a day ( so only once a day)

they are overwhelmed

your best bet is to  try  to get your banking info entered-if you can get through

many people have received based on 2018 taxes

I would need to call?  I can't find an option online to add banking info.

I definitely qualify as well and I get the same message for me, my wife, and my son.  No place to call or email either.

My accountant said he heard there were many problems with who got the checks and who didn't.   Bad news is he was told they (the IRS) is considering just waiting until next year when you file.  Their answer which hopefully gets blocked is to ....ask you next year if you got the check.  If you say no they will verify and issue one.  If you say yes, you obviously get nothing.  I hope this doesn't happen but with all the checks, loans, and Grant's that went out I think they are in over their head on this one.

The option to add banking info was there up to a week ago. But whenever I tried to enter it I got an error.

The banking option screen is now gone. Instead I get a status. Even though I'm on social security, my status is that they'll be mailing me a check.

Another Trump government masterpiece.

ps - I received the money, Apr 23, but it came as an electronic deposit.

Correct, 2018 or 2019.  You don't have to file 2019 to get the check.

I get the same message.  I haven't received any payment either.  We always owe money so IRS does not have up-to-date bank info.

 Hi,

We get direct deposit of social security checks. We have not received a refund from IRS for years.

Should I just be patient and wait? What's your advice?

wait  you should get it if you qualify

I believe I read somewhere that they were going to use SSA data after this round of data is done.

We have not filed our 2019 return, and received the stimulus payment via direct deposit on 4/15. ETA - What’s really strange is that we file paper based returns and do not collect SS.

Okay so here is an update - my son who was getting the same message as me about his eligibility status received his $1200 via direct deposit yesterday.

As for what my accountant was talking about in regards to getting your money with your 2020 refund - that pertained to something with SSA and having dependents.   That group had until yesterday to file for their dependent or they wouldn't get that $500 until they file their 2020 taxes.

I got a new message and am able to enter bank info.  At least they acknowledge that I'm eligible.
