Recs for phone replacement incl negative reviews

I am forced to replace my stolen iphone 5. Warnings as well as glowing reviews appreciated.

I like Android..i have 2 spare batteries so if the battery drains, I just pop in a new one. My phone is 4 years old, about a year ago I got the 3rd battery (brand new OEM) for $5 as it is 'outdated' At this point I would like the LG G4 although it is a year outdated...but I can get it for about $175 factory refurbished.

I've had my Nexus 5X for about a year now and I'm very happy with it. The fingerprint scanner quick and accurate, the cameras take good quality pictures and I've never had any performance issues with any apps. The battery life is also very good, I've seen 4-5 days worth of standby time on wifi and I can do an entire day of web browsing on 4G. Big bonus is that I get very regular updates to Android, and Google guarantees that the phone will continue to receive and support updates for 3 years after it's been launched. I'd definitely check out the Pixel phones, since they're the successor to the Nexus line. The hardware is even better and you still get the same great support from Google.
