I haven't posted anything here in 5 months.
The stream is Miquin Woods Preserve, Glen Gardner, N..
The field is in Alexandria township
JJ: Any idea if the source of that stream is a nearby reservoir?
Asking because the apparent streamflow is quite impressive, considering the lack of rain the last 9 weeks here (and in Glen Gardner).

1/2 mile from Spruce Run. It is a tributary to South Branch of Rahway River. Using Google Maps to trace the stream, there is no direct connection from the reservoir. The stream's main source of water is the South Branch. There are also several feeder streams that seem to come from spring water.
N.J. reservoirs are well below capacity. I doubt they are releasing water into the stream.
Side issue about the drought. There hasn't been a significant rain since April. I volunteer in a swamp, building boardwalk, removing invasive plants and so forth. Boardwalk building usually requires putting on boots or waders to get in the water and perform the tasks. The swamp is dry to the point that we do not need boots.
The problem is, the large number of volunteers are gone so it becomes a wasted opportunity to complete some work.
Scully and I went to Vermont today. Foliage was about a week past peak but still enjoyable.
The swamp, during drought. The dark spots on the ground are usually under water.
A new problem in the swamp..... there is a fungus that is attacking Beech trees.

Not quite a landscape….
fireplace at my hiking club’s winter hike and winter festival..
4 hikes, from 3 to 7 miles, depending on ability. Then, the party.
Where is that (always looking for fireplaces) and what is your your club? Is it open for new members?
That fireplace is at Tohickon Valley Park, Pipersville Pa. (Bucks County Park Commission). Another one is at Schooley's Mountain Park, Washington (Long Valley) N.J.
The club is Hunterdon Hiking Club.. HunbterdonHikingClub.org. New members are welcome. Especially ones that are willing to lead hikes. Most of our hikes are in Hundertdon County.
Also available are Tri-state Ramblers.
FYI JJ I'm filling out the Hunterdon Hiking Club form. I paid $17 for a sandwich the other day. $20 for a one year family membership seems reasonable.
