Sad news, didn't know he was sick. Until I saw them on The Young Ones, I assumed they were just another standard metal band. Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols, early Goo Goo Dolls, and countless others owe Lemmy and crew a big debt.

Apparently he found out he had cancer two days ago. Very quick, and frightening.
Well that sucks. Lemmy was the man. I agree with him that Motorhead was more punk than metal. Whatever it was, it was awesome.
By far the loudest band I've ever seen. This Lemmy quote nails it home: "We wanted to be the band that if we moved in next door to you your lawn would die"
