Printer (& Laptop) issues

We just moved from Mpw to SO, so we had to get Optimum in place of Comcast.

1.a   My HP printer can't see the new WiFi?

So, I purchased a printer cable (USB) and connected it directly to my laptop.

1.b   Despite rebooting both printer and laptop, my laptop keeps telling me that the printer is off line.

Secondly, now there is a new icon on my task bar (see below).  It appears to be something from Microsoft.  How do I remove that?

Bump.
I have a document I need to print urgently (in connection with real estate transaction).

Have you downloaded the HP Smart App? They can guide you through printer issues with their troubleshooter. I have an HP laptop and an HP computer and they still have trouble talking to each other. Unplugging the printer seems to solve it most of the time. It's so crazy.

Crazy is having to buy a new printer!

I have an iPad and iphone, no longer use either for anything other than personal stuff. My troubles began when I attempted to upgrade my old Canon printer by downloading a new drive (no CD slot on my iPad). Apparently I screwed up everything.

So, I am looking at Canon mg3620  wireless all in one at $99 — ink will cost the price of the printer quickly. There is an HP2755e that comes with six months of ink at 84.99.

I haven’t had to copy a document since the pandemic! There is a Canon without that feature.

Any advice?

Have you tried deleting the drivers on your computer and starting over?

Or you can email me the document and I'll print it for you right now in South Orange.

deleting drivers is kind of tricky, but re-installing might be an option.

After updating to windows 11, my HP printer often doesn't initially awaken to a print command from my Dell PC. Deleting and reinstalling my printer as the default in Settings didn't help. I then tried synching the printer wirelessly to the PC through generating and copying a code on my actual printer that I entered in my dell windows printer settings. It often doesn't activate on my first print job of the day, but will work when I run a fix of printer issues in printer settings, and be good, with a slight lag, until I shut down the pc. Occasionally I need to unplug and replug the printer to get it going.

Let’s get started!

HALLELUJAH!!

Armed with determination to give it another go, I approached the issue, telling my old printer it was either work, or wind up in  a landfill.

I just successfully printed out yet another picture of my cat, and scanned an item (scanning never gave up the ghost, actually).

It was all about getting my new wi-fi connection recognized.

Thanks so much for everyone’s input here! My family thanks you, too, as they are so tired of my whining!
