Looking forward to this event!

For those of you who do not know PFA, they are the Trap Neuter Return sponsor for South Orange and are offering to help in Maplewood.

I'm told that Senator Cory Booker choses them as one of his 3 favorite charities every year! All of us who do rescue rely on them to spay and neuter the feral cats that we TNR.

They are actively working at reducing the feral cat population in NJ using humane methods.

PFA is a wonderful organization and I have personally seen them go above and beyond in one situation and I highly commend the organization. They do wonderful work with the TNR. South Orange got a good deal with PFA. What is PFA going to do in Maplewood?

PFA has put in a bid to reopen the shelter at 298 Walton and operate it as a low cost spay/neuter clinic. They would also take in strays and hold them for the required seven days. Maplewood would certainly be welcome to contract with PFA for animal services, and the low cost spay/neuter clinic will be of benefit to many Maplewoodians, whether the town contracts with PFA or not.

Thanks for the info Elle_Cee ! Hope PFA wins the bid. It would be nice to be able to use their services since they are so close and there is most definitely more parking versus Hillside. I hope you will keep us updated on the PFA bid for 298 Walton.

PFA was suggested to assist with TNR in Maplewood.. They were at the last health dept. meeting in Maplewood. Bob Rowe introduced the idea and Jane Guillaume the Executive Director of PFA spoke briefly. As someone who helped with trapping and transporting in Maplewood and getting cats and kittens adopted,I think it would be great to have them involved. Actually the head of the Veterinary Dept. was once a vet in South Orange that I had taken my cats to when I first moved to South Orange. His name is Dr. David Croman. I like him very much.

How would PFA assist Maplewood with TNR? Wouldn't it be okay if PFA was on Walton and Maplewood residents took the feral cats to them? Or would it just be if PFA won the bid only South Orange would participate for now? I am so excited about this. TNR is moving forward in the two towns and it is a win win for humans and cats. That's wonderful that you know the head of the Vet Dept Dr David Croman and have a positive experience.

One option is for Maplewood to use PFA to run their TNVR as they are starting to do in South Orange. I don't know how it would all shake out.

Let's hope it shakes out in Maplewood's favor and I am hoping PFA wins the bid on Walton !!! Thank you Morganna oh oh

This is going to be fun!
