Opinions and experiences with Dryers?

A few months ago I bought a Speed Queen mechanical washer based on reviews on this board. My Calypso (Kenmore) had been giving me weird readings for years. Yesterday my dryer stopped. Hubby thought it might be the belt. He has now determined that is not the problem. He is checking on a couple of other things. In the mean time, I thought I would check here for people's experiences. Does anyone have the SQ dryer?

I hate not having my machines available to work.

Check the thermal fuse. Should be plenty of Youtubes as to how to dismantle in order to test it.

Google to find the service manual. Put it in service mode and test. It should identify the problem Then, go to repairclinic.com for parts and videos showing how to complete the repair.

Thanks all. Hubby has figured that it may actually be the latch to the door. He has ordered a new one.

Ours died because of the door. It was a Maytag from the 80's and was still going strong until the latch broke. I ordered a certified replacement latch that was supposedly compatable, but when Whirlpool bought Maytag they redesigned some stuff so the official Maytag replacement part didn't fit since the backing was too small to hold it in place. So we had to throw out an otherwise perfectly good dryer. I bought a used dryer from FB Swap Meet for $50. So far that one is still working.

Wish our dryer was that old. Let's see what happens. Our shower is leaking too. When it rains it pours. Husband likes to be handy man. It is a lot on top of his full time job. I am not crazy not being able to keep laundry going at normal pace.
