Open up America "AGAIN?"

ok, I've only heard this a few times - not sure if it went away or if others have been critical of it.

But, it's amazingly sad that Trump is branding a national tragedy with his personal campaign slogan - make america great again.

Can someone let me know how we're opening up America AGAIN?  When was the last time we had to open?  Maybe I missed something somewhere.

The Plan to Open up America AGAIN is getting more use from Pence today.

Is the a "Keep It Shut" movement?

I'm part of the "I keep reading about blood clots, strokes, pneumonia, permanent lung damage, amputated limbs, and death, so I'll stay inside thanks" movement.

I could see that printed on a T shirt.

It would look like a Pepsi t-shirt from the 70s.

Never mind, I guess it was a UK only ad campaign. And while I can google it, I can’t save any pictures of those t- shirts (originals anyway) so I can show you. Here’s one where they replaces Pepsi with Punk, so just imagine it says Pepsi instead of Punk. This was a hugely popular t-shirt in the 70s.

Based on this

Those shirts are more likely to come back than Coke commercials with spokesperson Bill Cosby

reminds me of this:

Yeah but Coke did this...

by coincidence I was at the very next show at that venue (and the last night ever for the old LA Sports Arena)

ok, so I guess the "again" part comes from the fact that Trump thinks he created the greatest economy and jobs numbers in our history.  He aims to repeat this historic milestone and that's where the again is coming from.

He's touting the current stock market surge and is very excited that it will be business as usual in the near future.

As Jared said - we'll be rocking in July!

Would it better to suggest there will be no recovery of the American economy. The country slammed down several weeks ago. We pray that soon we will witness a new beginning for us here and globally. A “reopening”.

As POTUS, he is, indeed, trying to make America great once more.

It would be better to have a proper plan that allows for a real recovery, rather than prematurely forcing businesses open without protection, which will cause spikes in infections and effectively shutter businesses regardless of whether there are official lockdowns in place. Trump is making it far more likely that the economic pain is deep and sustained.

Really? And what exactly is he doing - what ACTIONS is he taking - to accomplish that?

The answer is none, of course, but we're all interested to see what you will say.

mtierney - do you think that bringing the country back from one of the worst pandemics in our history should be branded with a reelection slogan?

Can't he step away from the self-centered reality show for once?  It's all about the optics.  And why on earth stop the daily briefings - even I liked to hear from Fauci.

Please provide his comprehensive plan in doing so as well.  I'd love to see it.

I'd love to see World Peace, an end to COVID 19, and an end to poverty and hunger.

There actually is a plan: https://www.whitehouse.gov/openingamerica/

Do you honestly think it will be followed - he has already encouraged states to liberate themselves who don't even follow the re-opening criteria.

Does anyone realise quite how badly trust in America as a leader has eroded in the past few months, faster than previous years? It’s going to be very very hard to rebuild that trust in your future policies, agreements, contracts let alone new product lines given recent behaviour.
Your President and his administration believe in isolationist policies in politics, diplomacy, economics and migration. His ‘whims’ are rarely favourable; even when he’s in a sunny mood, he appears snide and it’s always at the expense of someone else whose reputation he’s shredding. I could go on but I won’t.
This isn’t the time for mavericks, for being a vengeful bully against the unseen enemy when really you class the entire world outside your family as they enemy’.
I wish you all good health and the strength needed to get through this next chapter.

Jamie, you know the saying “timing in life is everything”? Bad timing is worse. Trump survived  three years of his first term being investigated, with a failed partisan impeachment effort barely over, when the pandemic struck. He was not to be allowed an opportunity to turn his attention to the upcoming election.
And the partisan attacks continue throughout this struggle to mobilize the fight against the epidemic. Even now, some would have him fail for fear he might win in November. How self-destructive is that line of thinking?

It’s impossible to reason someone out of an opinion they didn’t reason themselves into.

It wasn't a failed impeachment - he was actually impeached.

DB, what I’m trying to say is, where’s the incentive for anyone to want to resume trade? We’ve all found work-arounds, and more reliable/more agreeable/somewhat cheaper solutions. Why should we pander to his election imperatives? If the majority of Americans also believe as he does, why should we sacrifice rebuilding our nations to the ‘fastest regrowth’ of yours?  (Now he’s even got us mistrusting your science and medicine sectors because of his interference during this. So it’s worse than it was before. He’s just another salesman, cold-calling for seasonal orders.)

By the House; not the by the Senate. More and more facts are being uncovered which tell a whole different story.

Saw a brief clip of Schumer and Schiff back in D.C.— Shiiff mumbling something about malfeasance ....

your understanding of the impeachment process is lacking.

"Trump was impeached" is a correct statement, and we're all about correctness here at MOL.

Clinton was impeached too. I bet you and your Fox friends say that all the time.

I still don't get your point. And, who says 'the majority of Americans also believe as he does' ? Polls say the opposite regarding re-opening.

It's just kind of annoying to be told by someone overseas how bad he is - as if that's news to us. In  this case it's compounded by your misreading the situation.

Anyway, we know how bad he is and how bad he makes the US look, we don't need to be scolded about it.

I don’t mean to offend, I’m sorry.
I’ll just read.
