New CVS: Big "wow"

So, I patronized the new CVS on Valley. The store is beautiful, and empty of customers! The pharmacists are young and very eager to please. They want to reclaim business from mail-order so they offer a telephone call when your prescription should be renewed. I've decided to try this because I want to support brick-and-mortars who pay school taxes. They have a drive-thru for Pharmacy if you have kids in car seats and want to avoid the hassle. And, a great thing is, they did not fence in their lot from Pathmark's, so you can do both trips at the same time, sliding between the lots. It's a rarity for our towns, a first-class facility and operation. They are begging for customers so please consider patronizing them.

Was hoping they would have a minute clinic, but they don't seem to

Is this the Grand Opening weekend?

That's odd, since CVS is positioning themselves as more than a pharmacy - they want to be a health care destination. I would expect a clinic to show up eventually.

Why is this so exciting? It sounds like just about every CVS I have been in.

They have always had the policy of calling re renewing prescriptions. Those are robo calls, so they can be annoying. I think the minute clinic will show up after they are established.

Super! CVS/Caremark is our insurance covered prescription provider. I hope they are better than that overcrowded nightmare in Millburn.

At all CVS stores you can also get texts as prompts for prescription refills and when the order is filled. so easy!

I noticed the drive-through when I ran into Pathmark to pick up a couple of things this morning. I'm waiting to hear more success stories (and no horror stories), though as our experiences with the Millburn CVS in the past were not good. I understand that Target is switching over to CVS to handle their pharmacy business. If that's the case, then the new CVS may turn out to be our best bet.

I'll also be interested in hearing how they stack up with the Walgreen's on SA. That one also has a drive through I believe.

sac, the Millburn CVS is a sewer. This is completely different.

Stopped in quickly this afternoon. Store is lovely, nice selection of items and you can actually find what you are looking for very easily. Sales associates were helpful and friendly - and it even still has that "new store" smell that I love (I know, it's not good for you, but I still enjoy it). I'm sure I'll be there a lot more often than I was in the not-very-appealing dollar store that had been there.

Just got passport photos there!! That nice, new store smell!!

My Walgreen's refills my prescriptions automatically and then gives me a robo-call.

chopin that is what CVS does.

Well my son and I went to the new CVS last night and it was like every other CVS except for the parking lot. which is an unworldly pit. Alone there at night, you can imagine being transported to a new realm, like maybe a midwest Best Western or Hands Brinker at the Dike. However, the mysterious holes in the concrete walls are too big to be plugged by a single finger.

Are you referring to the drainage holes in the retaining wall? There is nothing mysterious about those.

Their parking lot is new and beautiful. Are you blaming them for Pathmark? CVS paved theirs, something Maplewood no longer does to any street.

I did not know they were drainage holes. I look forward to going there on a rainy day and watching the water pour out.

Oh Snap!

I am now planning a visit to CVS for the specific purpose of enjoying the scenic beauty of their parking lot.

You won't be disapointed.

I hope you can make it, given the state of Maplewood's unpaved streets. Be careful out there!

awesome. I'm packing a cooler right now.

And thankfully it's not 60 feet tall

thanks Vic DeLuca!

There are now two CVS stores and four Walgreen stores less than 2 miles from my house. I don't see all of these staying in business. Any bets on which will close?

CVS and Walgreen's somehow never go out of business. I like the convenience and "newness" of this new store, but the parking lot and siting of the building leave a lot to be desired. They could have put the parking in the back and created a more pleasing front yard condition (like a reverse mullet, business in the back, party in the front). The parking lot seems to be vastly oversized. There were about 5 cars in it every time I've driven by.

None.

I bet this new CVS will get a lot of business from CHS students, but I definitely agree we have way too many CVS, Walgreens, etc. in a small radius.
