Milo Yiannopoulos resigns from Breitbart after comments about pedophilia
sheesh. I thought it was only the libs who were trying to suppress poor Milo's free speech rights.
Well I guess this episode of character assassination can be deemed an unbridled success.

I am not an admirer of him per se. I don't agree with him on many things.
That being said, as much as he tweaks everyone I have never seen him back down when confronted. I admire that.
I find the idea that this guy supports pedophilia rather preposterous. He says a lot of stuff in jest. He has quite a bit of bravado.
Someone floats year old videos of the guy as a way to smear him is a convenient way to get rid of a political enemy who calls many on their own ********.
Everyone is out there buying 1984, and yet this seems like a guy guilty of thoughtcrime.

saying provocative things and not backing down aren't signs of intellectual heft per se. I'm not aware of anything that he has written or said that suggests he's any sort of deep thinker.

You're reading a lot into a few comments. I mostly just don't care one way or the other. I'm just surprised that after all the angst over his rights being allegedly under attack from the "left" that CPAC pulled the plug on him.
My reaction to him has mostly been that people should ignore his attempts to rile them up.

the scandal here is not his downfall. The scandal is all the support the right gave to this guy until this video showed up.
As if what he said in the video is any worse than the rest of his oeuvre. It was just ickier. But his vile hatred towards a myriad of groups was A-OK!!!

Interestingly, if you do go seek out videos of Milo and you run across one where one of his protesters gets to speak with him he will field all of their questions calmly. At the end of the day, like you, they have nothing to say.

There is something redeeming about him. He shocks to point out hypocrisy. When challenged he is always willing to discuss. I think that's really rare today. We need more of that, not less.
Usually, we are looking to shut down what we perceive as the other side. Whether they're unpatriotic, racist, deplorables, commies, what have you. That in itself is divisive.
For all his faults, I don't think Milo ever did that. And I find that refreshing. He was trying to create dialog not squelch it.
And if divisiveness is unethical, then what of the identity politics of the left? I find that to be quite divisive. I mean ****. You jump all over anyone who didn't go door to door for HRC for chrissakes.
