Marijuana & Edibles Trucks-NYC

I go into the city about 1x a month for fun and 1-2x a month for work. Today, there were at least 4 or 5 marijuana trucks. Like food trucks but they we’re selling various types of weed and edibles. Not for medical use. Anyone could buy. We were completely puzzled. Never saw anything like it. Did I miss some shift in law that now allows this?

apparently the products only contain CBD, not THC. So the stuff doesn't get you high.

Then why buy the products?

well, some people think that CBD has medicinal properties, and other people don't know the difference, so they'll get ripped off. Capitalism in action!

I’d guess the average tourist walking by won’t know what they are buying and will think it’s cool. I’m guessing there’s a reason they were just outside of Penn Station.

By the way CBD oil does have medicinal properties. I have (among other things) neuropathy from chemotherapy.  The doctor who deals with most of my ongoing pain problems suggested getting a topical cream for the neuropathy and it does help.

If they would ever really get marijuana legalized in this state I would like to be able to go to a dispensary and get some kind of marijuana that does  not get you high but helps with nausea.  I still have that problem off and on.

The way marijuana legalization is now makes it very difficult.  It's expensive to go through the rigamarole and there are very few dispensaries.

would it be illegal to possess this in NJ?  I would like to try some, but I would need a friend to pick it up in NY and bring it back.  And I can't ask him to take any legal risk..even though the chance of a problem is extremely unlikely, I couldn't ask him to take any risk.

I think you can buy it online. Apparently if the concentration of CBD is below (something) it's legal here.

I think. Poke around on this site.

problem with online is the expense.  I can't be spending a lot on something that probably will not help, but I am willing to spend $10 on a couple lollipops to try.

how about

eta - maybe not. This one has melatonin in it.

Just as we know tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) does, cannabidiol (CBD) is known to have many pharmacological actions. It's a shame that research on this class of compounds has been hampered over the years.

then why is it so hard to get?  some medical varieties only have CBD.  you would think it would be bigger business since its legal.

maybe you want to get a truck? Vendor permit? I can think of quite a few venues where you’d make a killing rolling up in a truck selling this!

I don't know tons about it.  But it seems it's not regulated and there are a lot of crap products out there.  It's like a supplement.

i want to try it because I can barely function.  I sometimes have such severe pain that keeps me up at night and oxycontin doesn't even touch it.  Most days I have about 2 productive hours before I can't push through any more.  I can't get the medical variety and highly doubt the food truck variety would be potent enough....but for $10 I would try it.  I can't even make the trip to get it.

why haven’t you been prescribed medical marijuana then? Seems it’d much easier

 1. can't find a competent doc.  when i had my brain injury, docs insisted I was fine and could even drive even when I couldn't see straight or sit much unaided.  PCPs who just talks fast and runs out of the room (just tried yet another one) and miss simple things like hypothyroid despite positive test.  Rheumatologist who seems to be american born with perfect english (n  language barrier) who can't understand anything i say..his nurse would just write out the same 3 RXs every time even though 2 I had stopped taking completely a year before (I went every 3 months) and a narcotic that I only use 2-3x/year (it doesn't help most of the time, just with specific intermittent issues)..yet he gave me 80 every 3 months...then announced the meds were working..uh, HELLO...I can't function....and many others just as bad.  I tried one from SMG who just acted as if I was drug seeking when I didn't even ask for for narcotics at all.  I try to wait to establish a relationship before I ask for a whopping 10 pills per year.

2. even if I can find a competent doc, I can't afford a prescription.  I forget how much..but hundreds of dollars just to meet with a doc (not covered by insurance) and hundreds more for the meds.

and most docs don't prescribed, there is a short list (but growing, I haven't checked in a while) and limited dispensaries...long wait lists for appointments and I've heard stories of people that can't even get appointments.

definitely much easier to hop a train to NYC....or have a friend pick up a couple...he said he hasn't seen the trucks though, he might not actually go outside penn normally.

easier maybe but it’s not the same as what would be prescribed

where, exactly were the trucks? I go in every day and would be happy to see one- never have. Where did you see this?

along 7th and 8th ave. Probably between 35-42nd st. It was a Saturday around 3pm.

better than nothing...financially the medical prescription is not an option at all...so in effect an Rx is nothing.....

As indicated above, CBD is legal.  Many businesses are attempting to position themselves to be the trusted source with name recognition for when full legalization occurs.

Check out shop-poplar.com   (you can get a free sample).

Full Disclosure: Poplar was started by a close friend. I have no financial interest in the company.

Well I do know that medicinal marijuana in NJ is cheaper than buying grass in NYC.

jmitw,

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Regarding the use of Oxy vs. marijuana: if the Oxy isn't working, I don't think marijuana will help. I've used both for different problems; but, by all means, if you can get your hands on some marijuana, without causing anyone trouble, try it .

Hope you fell better soon.

If PCP means primary care physician, I recommend Dan Preston in Springfield. He gets me out of his office as quickly as I wish; but spends as much time with the lovely bride as she wishes.

 For its relaxation effect.

You could find a connection for the non-medicinal variety.  It would be a lot cheaper.

little shop in Maplewood Ave, next to wine shop, sells CBD oil

I live here in the land of legal weed. There are a lot of crap CBD products out there. Here in CA - the most respected brand is Lord Jones. If they have that on the truck - it's worth the $$. Just checked - they ship. https://www.lordjones.com/
