Locked out

Yesterday I downloaded software to write a grant proposal, and now I can’t log into my computer. It doesn’t recognize the keyboard. I am only using the Microsoft antivirus software, and just yesterday ir gave me a report of no viruses. I am locked out. Any ideas? I am writing from my phone.

The chance of this being related to the software you added is very very very very low. The chance of it being related to the keyboard is much higher.

You didn't say if you turned the system fully off and rebooted. That's the first thing I'd do. You want to see whatever your computer does when it boots up happen and make sure the computer isn't just going to sleep and waking up. And if a reboot doesn't make things happy try a different keyboard.

You are my life saver! There was a tiny seed caught between the shift key and the board holding the keys. I am back in business. I am so relieved! Can’t thank you enough for focusing my attention on the keyboard.

I was looking for a bow video and I found this.  It is really funny, and I didn't think that I had posted it, because you might misinterpret it.  I hope you enjoyed it.  I meant to say thank you.

You're welcome!

Don't let your parrot near your computer any more. cheese

Tom, you are in the right track.  I offered to help a friend who is an agricultural engineer to check under a special microscope for signs of pests in citrus fruits, and I had to pop the crown of these tiny lemons off with an exacto knife and log what I found info into the computer.  I saw dead mold after it had been sprayed with a herbicide, and tiny insects crawling about the fruit who were agitated by the light if the microscope, and lots of other creatures that I believe are animals.  My friend said that the creatures had legs, but they are so small that i could not see them.  Yesterday i saw the shell of a spider, apparently they shed their skin as they grow.  i had no idea how much life is in a piece of fruit.  I pop cherries and blueberries and grapes into my mouth without washing it sometimes when I am driving.  I think those days are over now.  The seed on my keyboard was very tiny, and I am sure it came from one of the lemons. Soooo, wash your fruit.

And the good news is that they are doing this incredibly tedious, time consuming job, so that they don't have to spray insecticides or herbicides the way they used to do it before:  as a preventative measure.  Now they are spraying only if they see a sign of illness.  An ill lemon has tons of stuff that doesn't belong there.  She tells me that the more they spray, the more the plant looses its ability to fight of the plagues without human intervention.  I was looking for a tiny, tiny, tiny spider that you barely see under a microscope.  Apparently, the USA does not have this spider, and they will force fumigation of fruit that has even one spider within a container.  This is fruit headed to your grocery store. Anyway, this seed was probably in one of the lemons and it popped onto my laptop when I massacred the spider's favorite hiding place:  the crown of the fruit.

Some of those bugs are good for us to eat, but the trick is knowing which ones. I don't usually wash my food before I cook or eat it. Some minerals are good.

I assume that the bugs I saw are fine, otherwise I would have been told to write them up.  I was looking for a spider that eats the sap of fruit trees, so the USDA does not want it within its borders.  I just find the idea of eating bugs unappetizing.

interesting post.

Am I the only one seeing 3 copies of this thread??? Have been ever since the seed got stuck in the keyboard, ie, the start.

I only see one copy.

Tom_Reingold, I hope that you are eating organic when you eat produce that is not washed, because if you aren't you are also eating pesticides and herbicides.  This is what one doctor is saying about Round Up, which needs to be outlawed.

Also, definitely wash organics produce.

“Fresh produce is a raw agricultural product,” says Catherine Strohbehn, PhD, RD, CP-FS, hospitality management extension specialist and professor at Iowa State University. “As part of production, it is exposed to potential contaminants from environmental and human sources. It is pretty hard to control the birds flying overhead or animals, so it is always a good idea to wash a product before eating.”

Not to mention that produce is handled by people, not all of whom have ongoing access to good sanitation.
