It's World Kindness Day

Read about it here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Kindness_Day?wprov=sfla1

I'm going to try not be a jerk today. I'll let you know how it goes.

I think I got through without being a jerk (except maybe about tonic water).

That wasn't so hard. Maybe I'll try again today.

uh, everyday is kindness day..???

Should be.

I think how I need to challenge myself is to not just think of kindness as a passive lack of meanness. Rather it is a more active choice of reaching out in kindness to others. So yes, I made a joke about not being a jerk for one day. but that's the bare minimum, and doesn't begin to satisfy the definition of being kind.

Sometimes it's easier to be kind, warm, friendly, generous, helpful, etc. to strangers than it is to those close to us. That's the real challenge.

It was very kind of you to let us know!

If you like eggs, it's a good day to eat a Kinder Egg.

I thought it was some vegan alternative. Had to look it up.

Kinder Eggs, on the other hand, are essentially a chocolate, egg-shaped shell that contains a hard plastic egg, inside of which is a small toy. The toy does not serve a “practical functional value to the confectionery” and has been deemed by the FDA to be injurious, specifically as a choking hazard.Aug 9, 2017

 That's not very kind.

Kindness is for every day. That is a basic tenet of my life. That's why I keep this picture in my phone, in case I need an occasional reminder.

Morganna, it’s pronounced ‘kinn-der’, as in the German word for children, not ‘kine-der’. cheese  The toys are safe for children old enough to not stick everything into their mouths; the same type of choking hazard as small toys in cereal boxes.

I was being a smartass with the Kinder Egg comment.

There is, to Morgannas point, a brand of vegan products sold under the Kind label.

Metaphysician I've seen that quote and agree with it. I need to work harder to put it into everyday practice!

I’m blushing fiercely now. I caught the pun, but thought Morganna might not know. (I’ll admit, that surprised me) I hadn’t known about the vegan Kind product, or forgot , if it was mentioned in the Vegan thread. (My memory’s spotty at present)

I do apologise to all. Hope I haven’t ruined the mood.

Joanne, why do you think you've ruined the mood? We're just having a little chat and I'm making the occasional silly joke.

Yes, I know, but I did my overly helpful/overly pedantic thing that’s tends to be interpreted by some as language-pedantic. Together with the time difference and the conversation being in type not audio, I just wanted to be sure.
In person, I really can be quite silly cheese

(oh, I need to socialise more! Or at least find work! Hanging around the house with Mr Monosyllable Hermit is not great for my soft skills)
