I’m back

I cheated. For the past 2 years, I slept with Facebook, but I’m done. Lounge posts now require admin approval, nobody wants your stuff on swap, even when it’s free, and Facebook just sucks all around. I hope you’ll have me back. It’s nice to see the old familiar “names” here.

Thanks! Definitely no love for MZ, but the local groups were useful for some things. Alas, maybe they’ve grown too big, and the need for overly tight control ruined it for me.

Happy to be back; it’s like family. Actually, my family is a little conservative for my taste, though I still love them when I’m not actively horrified. Compartmentalization is my new survival skill.

You need another magazine back copy already?

I’m on hiatus from the paper delivery during our endless renovation, so I don’t even know what I’m missing. I have to say, it does take the pressure off of keeping up with all those sections!

*waving* from the other side of the world, good to see you again! cheese

Welcome back! It's a bit quieter here than it once was, but we enjoy civil discussion! (for the most part)

It’s actually been closer to 3 years, at least based on the dead thread, where the last entries I was up to were John Glenn and Henry Heimlich. Let’s just say I was in outer space until I choked.

Whoops, I guess I had nothing to say. How do you delete a post? Can’t see an option for it, at least on my phone.

More to the point, how did you do a blank post? (Rhetorical) I thought you had to have text or a pic or something...

I just inadvertently hit the Reply button!

Over the years...........I have found that participation in MOL is like eating whale blubber.   Once you start you just can't stop.

Let us know if you need to get up-to-speed on anything.

Ha, apparently quite a lot. Where’s the heat thread? Going to start it up.

looks like we have a bug somewhere - submitting a blank reply shouldn't be possible.

ok I see it allowed me to enter a blank reply - we'll probably fix this issue overnight.  Thanks for the heads up!

There are some posts for which a blank would have been better.

Just earning my keep here. Chief bug finder.

Agreed - Lounge is incredibly tedious. I can only take about 10 minutes a week. It's the same outrage and entitlement over and over again. Almost no humor. And nobody ever shows up for your stuff, free or not.

Thanks for the confirmation. It bothered me that nobody would (or could?) raise the issue about the new censorship model. I tried, but needless to say, my post wasn’t approved. And posts on other threads alluding to it fell on deaf ears. It really got right up my nose.

I get taking down highly offensive or legally risky posts, but otherwise, it should be an open forum, and posts will rise or fall based on people’s interest or lack thereof.

Also, MOL has much better weather coverage.

FWIW, I just posted a blank reply in the Uncaged Bird thread (I edited it to have words, though).

Sorry for the thread drift.

Welcome back!

I agree about Lounge, although I still post there occasionally.  I find the interface there and on Facebook, difficult and not good for conversations. That's why I also came back to MOL a few years ago.  You can't beat the format.

Welcome back from me as well. Although I had cut back on MOL for unrelated causes for a few years, I never succumbed to the evil, evil FB.

That means that I’ve missed out on a few important or timely matters, but I’ve also avoided having my brains sucked out through my nostrils slowly, to be left in a desiccated powder on my desk, sucked dry of all meaning, logic or purpose. That might also be due to the successful avoidance of cable and broadcast TV reception in our household for more than 20 years.  grin
