TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR TUESDAY AUG 4

Is it me or is this thing a bust? Bit of rain, little wind. Big whoop.

Don't curse us.  It's early.

Still hasn't gotten to us yet. And its also very different 30 miles west of Maplewood.

Ok, we shall see. I’m also basing my being wholly underwhelmed with this thing on how the end time seems to keep moving up. Last night i was seeing around 8 pm, earlier this morning it showed 6 pm, now 3-4 pm...

It's moving faster than expected. That will keep the rain totals down. Meteorology is a very imperfect science. Remember, we're trying to predict the future.

I'll be very happy with a bust.  no finger pointing at the weather people.

I put my screen house away - so we likely won't get hit as hard.

Yeah I’d be happy with a bust too. Unlike a blizzard which can be fun, in my view a tropical storm has little to no redeeming value.

I object to the name Isaias. Way too hard to spell. What are they thinking?

I don't see why they couldn't have just put an "h" on the end instead of an "s".  I think we all know how to pronounce "Isaiah", & it probably hasn't been used to name a storm in like, forever.

Nobody asked me but I'd rather not lose power.

Why are people talking about a bust when the storm hasn't fully reached us? There are trees down and power outages in SNJ. That **** is coming our way.

I'm at the Jersey shore watching sustained 35 MPH wind with gusts over 50. And the worst isn't here yet. It's not a bust here.

This is no bust. A huge tree just came down in my backyard

Power out on Courter.  Elsewhere?

My colleagues farther south and west in NJ are starting to lose power, and our IT team is shutting down our computer servers in central Jersey.

Part of Golf Island is out apparently because of a tree down on Dunnell near MMS.

This is when my lovely 70-foot oaks start to look scary.

It’s also when I start thinking that this year has got to be the year I finally get a generator.

It's actually pretty bad out here in Morris County.  Lots of heavy rain and wind.  Rain coming down in sheets with occasional gusts pushing the rain sideways.  So far still have power, but I suspect that won't last if this keeps up.

Just heard St Lawrence Avenue lost power

Golf island - flickering power, intermittent internet loss.

We WANT a bust (or should), but I don't think that's what we are getting.  Hopefully we will escape the worst possibilities at least.

 It’s likely mostly over now.

My lights flickered repeatedly but power is still on.  Have you gotten your power back yet?  I did see a Union, NJ Fire Truck heading down Courter awhile ago.  They surveyed downed town tree limbs in the roadway near me.  No sign of downed wires here though.  A friend reported power out on the Crescent near Valley Street.

Definitely feels like it's winding down:

***Damaging wind threat developing through 3 pm***

Sustained winds of 40-50 mph with gusts to 65 mph will develop through 3 pm.

dry and pretty quiet now

Power is out over by st. Barnabas. Est back on in 24 hours.

 Probably because of this.

Center of the storm is now due west of us, between Allentown and Stroudsberg PA.

The back end of the storm has some rain in it but nothing like the front end.

There is a strong wind field developing in the back end. As the wind swings around over the next hour, winds from the south will swing around to the west and during that period could redevelop into trop force or near trop force for an hour or two before tapering off.

There are significant power outages regionally. There are quite a few trees down. Travel at this time is still hazardous. Stay home.
