Hereditary

Has anyone else seen this movie?

It was pretty damn spooky if you ask me. Scariest movie I've seen in years. I wasn't crazy about the ending, but the other 95% of the movie was very well done.

And OMG Toni Collette! I don't know how an actor survives after playing a role like that. For the movie to work, Collette's character has to carry the whole thing, and she does it brilliantly.

For those who haven't seen it, beware there will probably be spoilers ahead. If you like a good scare, without excessive gore - there are a few very graphic images with blood, but a gore fest it's not - check this movie out.

Haven't seen it but very fond of Collette and will keep it in mind.

Oh, if you like Collette definitely see this. A tour de force. The United States of Tara was just a warm-up to this movie.

I enjoyed the movie, but the comparisons to the Exorcist are way off.  It is not as good, nor as scary.  It's good stuff.  I think Rosemary's Baby is a much more apt comparison than the Exorcist.

Not that I didn't enjoy it. I assume Collette was the mother.  I'd agree that she was really great.   It just wasn't very scary.

I was completely spooked a few times. In the second half, the director started sticking these images into the background with no explanation or resolution. That was way creepy.

OTOH, a lot of stuff was telegraphed. I knew what was gonna happen to Charley as soon as she opened that window.

And I think Charley's parents were a bit cavalier in their attitude towards Charley's extremely serious food allergy. I didn't buy that at all.

Yes, there were a lot of similarities to Rosemary's Baby, one of my favorites. I didn't see too many similarities to the Exorcist though, though I've seen in the press where they're playing that up.

Yes, Collete was the mother.

The endings were similar between RB and Inheritance, but in Inheritance it seemed to come out of the blue, whereas in RB we sort of knew what was going on the whole time - which I think works much better.

Still, en exceptional effort I think.
