Hardwood floors - where to buy?

Hey All -- have not done hardwood floors in a few years. Grabbed samples from Home Depot and Lowes, but would really rather not buy from them. Tried Lumber Liquidators, too. Suggestions for local, good stores? THX!

Hannon floors on liberty ave, union, just before rt 22, also Jasco tile on rt 22 east, new location, check websites.

We used lumber liquidators about three years ago. Initially loved the product. Have been pleasantly surprised by the durability of the finish, however, disappointed by the shrinkage. The moisture tests we did before install didnt lead me to believe we would end up with the amount of gapping we have pretty much throughout. We chose koa (not sure on spelling) which I thought was dried and a super hardwood.

ok - appreciate the leads!

Suggestions for style? House has 100 year old 2 1/4" white oak floors installed on a diagonal, natural color, with a narrow accent band around perimeter of each room of brown - -that matches the natural chestnut moldings.

Thinking new floor should at least mimic width (or not? ).

Color - matching existing isn't likely, the new floor will be adjacent to old floor in 3 rooms. I think it can get close, but tried this in another house and was disappointed. I'm thinking going darker, matching the brown of the moldings and accent band in other rooms.

Thanks!

Have you considered having real wood floors installed and sanded in place by a flooring guy? Seems you'd get a better match with the existing floor and you wouldn't have the bevel between each board. Or is that a lot more expensive?

Thanks for the thought kthnry!

Done that in another house before. What I found is that even with the same wood species, matching a floor is very difficult when its a large floor in an adjacent space with large openings where color differences are very obvious. A board or two can always be disguised a bit.

I am quite open to installing unfinished hardwood, my experience though wasn't so good when trying to match.
