Happy New Years Day

The magnificent Rose Parade takes (took) place and the Twilight Zone marathon continues.  The Rangers are about to play the Sabres outdoors at Citifield in the annual 'Winter Classic."  You have to love the sight of pros playing hockey outdoors and marvel at the fact that people are actually sitting there watching in this cold.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, we had wondrous thunderstorms after a magical afternoon spent swimming in the nearby Nerang River and chatting with day-trippers and other locals also enjoying a slow start to 2018. A new young friend quickly reassured me that even though we were enjoying days around 95 degrees F (100% humidity pretty much weeks on end), Wellington NZ has been around 57 or so and that's common in summer...! oh oh

From our sun-dappled, frangipani-scented balcony overlooking splashing ducks diving for tasty morsels in a water-lily strewn lake, we wish you a happy, peaceful, and healthful 2018! May all its surprises bring joy!

And may all your news be good news!
