I know more than a few folks who are sick with flu. I got my flu shot in early November.
I had my flu shot, and a pneumonia shot, and I still have the worst cold I've had in years.

Same here. The cold seemed to last forever

That could possibly be because the fu shot and pneumonia shot protect against influenza and pneumonia, not cold viruses.

And not all flu strains are covered. But it is still the right thing to do.

Am I being called passive aggressive because I have a bad cold?
Pretty sure he meant me. Because I pointed out that the flu shot doesn't protect against colds.

Well, yeah. But even the flu strains that aren't covered don't cause the common cold.
DA: It appears that one of the people you thought you were being sympathetic towards didn't get it. You may want to try a different approach.
As an ED nurse, I can attest that this looks like the worst flu season in years. IMHO, I'm guessing that fewer people were immunized this year than prior years, maybe because last years flu shot was such a poor match with the actual virus. I repeat, just my personal opinion.

Looks like an ugly one, with worse than normal symptoms

Not too late to get vaccinated.
Link to a vaccine finder in article.
Even if you think you're pretty butch & hardcore, do it for the people you come in contact with who may not be so tough. It's the right thing to do.
Stating the obvious but still something some seem to be confused about- the vaccine cannot give you the flu. Do your due diligence before making a decision.
