Flood Watch Tomorrow, Friday 12/28

The potential for heavy rain tomorrow coupled with still saturated ground has led the NWS to post a Flood Watch for tomorrow, Friday 12/28.

This is mainly a concern for low lying areas and small streams that tend to flood in heavy rain, but we should also be aware of blocked storm sewers and other road ponding.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a

* Flood Watch for a portion of northeast New Jersey, including the following areas, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic, and Western Union.

* From Friday morning through Friday afternoon

* An area of low pressure moving in from the west will lead to the potential for one to one and a quarter inches of rain across areas that were recently saturated in prior rainfall events.

* The heavy rain will result in the potential for flooding of urban, low lying, and poor drainage areas. Minor river flooding is possible on fast responding streams.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.

what’s the timing on all this rain? Heavy during a small window or just pouring all day?

Hey! I'm getting tired of this crap!

And, FWIW, my drive through the torrential rain last Friday in PA was one of the worst drives of my life.
